BorgWarner just announced that it will be supplying Fiat Powertrain Technologies with its DualTronic Transmission Control System to be used in Fiat’s first dry dual-clutch transmission. The fuel-saving technology will be available on the Alfa Romeo MiTo late this year, and then its use will expand to include many Fiat, Lancia and Alfa mid-sized C and D segment models starting next year.

Evergreen Solar just announced a new partnership agreement with RMT, Inc. Under the terms of the agreement, the two companies will work together to market utility-scale solar projects to electric companies and project developers.
The companies will place bids jointly for these types of projects. RMT will handle engineering, procurement and construction and Evergreen Solar will supply solar panels for the projects. So far, the two companies have bid on more than 400 MW worth … Read the rest
Nova Biosource Fuels has received a notice from NYSE AMEX LLC regarding a late Form 10-Q. Nova has not filed its Form 10-Q for January 31, 2009, and its listing on the stock exchange is threatened unless it submits a plan to get back into compliance.

And another installment in the drama between NRG and Exelon…NRG Energy, struggling to defend itself from a hostile takeover by Exelon, has filed a lawsuit against Exelon. In the suit, NRG claims that Exelon’s offer to NRG shareholders was a "sham" intended to compel NRG to negotiate and that Peco Energy customers could see a dramatic increase in their electric bills in the event of a takeover.
Applied Materials has announced that it plans to expand its facility in Xi’an, China. The announcement comes after China’s Vice Premier Li Keqiang toured the facility, which focuses on SunFab’ thin-film modules, c-Si testing and R&D. Applied Materials has now started "Phase 2" of the project, which will turn the facility into a Global Solar R&D Center for crystalline silicon and thin-film solar.

Caraustar Industries, Inc. just announced that it is permanently closing its paperboard mill in Charlotte, North Carolina. The mill, which produced uncoated recycled boxboard, has been idle since December. Caraustar will record a pre-tax charge of $9.7 million, with $7.3 million of that amount being non-cash, in conjunction with the closure. Closing the mill is expected to save the company $11.4 million per year before taxes.

Vestas Wind Systems announced that it will co-operate with Boeing on new research in advanced eco-friendly aeromechanics. The companies intend to start by identifying areas in which they are both proficient, and then to engage in mutually beneficial research projects. Researchers from both companies are expected to begin identifying potential projects this year.
