Hybrid-Electric Motorcycle From Advanced Battery Tech (ABAT) Debuts

The Stimulus Bill: Who Is Most Likely To Benefit (FPL, VWSF, GE)

Bloomberg has a report out on the companies that are most likely to benefit from the economic stimulus bill. The bill includes both spending and tax breaks for new transmission lines, wind farms and smart meters.

Vestas Wind Systems (VWSF) Will Hire 3,000 US Workers

Bucking the current trend of layoffs and hiring freezes, Vestas Wind Systems plans to hire 3,000 workers in the US. To Vestas, the US represents a potential goldmine in the form of a large, growing marketplace. GreenHunter Energy (GRH) Sells Telogia, Florida Biomass Plant

According to Energy Current, GreenHunter Energy just announced the sale of its Telogia, Florida wood-powered biomass plant. The company bought the 14 MW plant in September of last year for $2.5 million.  The plant was sold to Multitrade Telogia, LLC for $5.7 million in cash, including 1.7 million in debt.

US Geothermal (HTM) Announces Connection Agreement For Neal Hot Springs

US Geothermal (HTM) has announced an agreement with the Idaho Power Company to design and build a 10 mile, 36MW transmission line and substation from the Neal Hot Springs geothermal site to IPC’s transmission grid which is expected to begin transmitting power in about 2 years.  IPC will be responsible for the design, engineering and construction.

EMCORE Corporation (EMKR) Reports 15% Revenue Increase

EMCORE Corporation just announced that the company’s revenue for the first quarter of fiscal year  2009 is up by 15% over the first quarter of last year. From PV-tech.org, here are the preliminary numbers:

MEMC Electronic Materials (WFR) Changes Its Agreement With Suntech Power (STP)

StreetInsider.com reports that MEMC Electronic Materials has amended its supply agreement from July 25, 2006 with Suntech Power. Under the agreement, MEMC Electronic Materials agreed to sell silicon wafers to Suntech for a period of 10 years. The change to the agreement does not alter the aggregate revenues for sales at all. American Electric Power Company has entered in to agreements with 2 separate wind farms to buy a total of 250 MW of wind energy.  The company has signed 3 separate 20 year agreements with 2 different wind farms.
