American Superconductor Corporation (AMSC) 2nd Quarter Results

Second quarter financial results are in for American Superconductor Corporation. The company set a record for itself on revenue, earning $40.4 million. That’s an 87 percent increase over this time last year. Net loss was $4.1 million, or $0.10 per share, which compares favorably to last year’s second quarter net loss of $6.7 million, or $0.17 per share. Solar options jump in volume (SOLF, LDK, TSL, STP, YGE)

Solar stocks were up nicely today and the option volume spiked in many of the names. 

The following showed up on my nightly scan for highest % change in option volume above its 10 day average: 

SOLF 576%

LDK 346%

TSL 223%

STP 197%

YGE 196%

Most of the volume came from call buying so it will be interesting to see if these bullish bets pay off.… Read the rest

Brean Murray Reiterates Buy Rating on Calgon Carbon (CCC), But Lowers Price Target

According to StreetInsider.com, Brean Murray maintains its Buy rating on Calgon Carbon (CCC) but is lowering the price target from 24 to 20.

“Calgon Carbon reported 3Q08 results that were below our estimates. Sales in the quarter of $99.1 million were up 16.7% YoY, but slightly missed our estimate of $102.6 million. ReneSola (SOL) Secures Additional Credit Lines, Updates Guidance

ReneSola announced that it has secured additional credit lines from two of the largest bank in China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and Agricultural Bank of China. This gives ReneSola additional credit of  RMB1.06 billion for total available credit lines of RMB2.8 billion.

ReneSola (SOL) Secures Credit, Upgrades Production Estimates

ReneSola (SOL) has announced that it has secured additional credit lines from two of China’s largest banks to the tune of RMB1.06 billion.

Hapoalim Securities Starts First Solar (FSLR) With Sell Rating, $90 Target

According to StreetInsider.com, Hapoalim Securities is going against the grain of yesterday’s 5 Buy ratings on First Solar (FSLR) and issuing a Sell rating and $90 price target.
