Suntech just announced that it has entered into agreements with several Chinese provincial and city governments for solar projects.
The agreements are as follows: 300 MW for the Shaanxi provincial government, 500 MW for the Shizuishan city government in Ningxia province, 500 MW for Qinghai provincial government, and 500 MW for Panzhihua city government in Sichuan province, for a grand total of 1.8GW. Cree. Inc has entered a patent licensing agreement with Mistsubishi Chemical Corporation for its freestanding GaN substrate technology. Under the terms of the agreement, Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation will be able to manufacture and sell GaN substrates as well entering in to some sublicensing agreements in exchange for paying royalties and other payments to Cree.

A-Power announced yesterday that it has signed a deal for a joint venture with GE Drivetrain Technologies.Under the terms of the agreement, the companies will work together to create a wind turbine gearbox assembly business. GE Drivetrain will own the majority of the business.
The companies also entered into a supply agreement, under which GE will provide more than 900 2.7 MW gearboxes to A-Power, starting in 2010.
