Altair (ALTI) the lithium battery maker for electric cars reported another quarterly loss of .07/share but beat estimates by a couple pennies on revenue of 1.9 million (vs consensus of 1.65 million).
Today, the company also announced a $350,000 contract with the US Army to deliver prototype batteries for use in the Army’s M119 105mm lightweight gun digitization program. Altair’s batteries can operate in extreme conditions with rapid charging capabilities and a long life.
IDSA, the scrap metal recycler of Kentucky, reported strong results after the bell yesterday with revenues surging 77% over the year ago period and EPS more than doubling to 1.66 million

Trinity Industries (TRN) who has a wind tower business that generates about 10% of revenues reported strong results after the bell today, posting earnings of 1.06/share which smashed estimates of .83/share. Revenues came in below estimates at 945.5 million (about 20 million below) but shares are up after hours anyway on that EPS number.
Andersons (ANDE) has raised its full year 2008 guidance to the range of 5.00 – 5.40 up from previous estimates of 4.40 – 4.80 just announced in June. This is a big bump in such a short time.. very impressive. The Street consensus is 4.61 EPS. The increase in primarily attributed to the Plant Nutrient Groups performance. Sunpower (SPWR) reported Q2 EPS of .61, 10 cents better than estimates on revenues of 382.8 which also beat estimates of 343 million. The company also raised its full year 2008 revenue and EPS guidance.
