Following Suntech’s (STP) better than expected Q2 earnings this morning, Piper Jaffray is bullish according to StreetInsider.com.
The firm said the results were driven by strong shipments and average selling prices, noting that Suntech has secured 900MW of its 09 silicon supply at favorable pricing and has long term supply contracts in place which should help significantly lower costs.

Trina Solar (TSL) reported a very strong quarter and more than doubled profits but missed analyst estimates of .81/share by reporting .76/share after taking out the one time charge for the closing of the polysilicon project in Lianyungang. The company was also hit on currency fluctuations to the tune of .24/share. Revenues came in ahead of estimates and nearly tripled to 204.2 million and the company raised expectations for the year.
Gushan Environmental (GU), China’s largest producer of biodiesel topped estimates this morning with a non GAAP EPS of .23/share, edging out estimates of .22/share for an increase in 64% over the year ago period. Revenues came in ahead of estimates as well with 58.3 million in the quarter, a jump of about 35% over the year ago quarter.

JA Solar (JASO) certainly didn’t report the blow out results that LDK Solar did but nonetheless it was a decent quarter, albeit a bit below what analysts had been expecting on the EPS side. Pacific Ethanol (PEIX) reported a big loss this morning of .23/share, much larger than the .12/share loss analysts had been expecting as soaring corn prices eroded profits. Revenues came in on the light side as well at 198 million, vs the estimate of 206 million

Fuels Systems Solutions (FSYS) crushed analyst estimates and reported an EPS of .54/share (double analyst estimates) on revenues of 98.3 million. EPS increased 18 fold over the year ago quarter while revenues increased 50% in the same time period. The company raised 08 revenue guidance 9% and increased margin forecasts and the stock is soaring as a result up more than 20% and breaking to new all time highs. Daystar (DSTI) reported another whopper of a loss after the bell today and missed analyst estimates by 2 cents when it reported a loss of 7.3 million for the quarter, an increase of about 15% over the year ago quarter. DSTI is a company far from profitable and not expected to get there anytime soon.

Clean Harbors (CLHB) reported better than expected earnings this morning and raised its full year 2008 revenue outlook. After initially selling off this morning, the stock has recovered significantly and reclaimed key support levels.
The company credited the strong results to growth across all segments and higher utilization of its domestic incinerators.
