According to Reuters, LDK just announced that it will work with China’s Suqian City to develop 300 megawatts worth of solar PV projects. The projects are expected to be complete by 2015.

Yingli Green Energy just announced that they will be providing CTP, a Czech commercial property developer, with 5 MW of solar PV modules. Under the terms of the letter of intent, signed by both companies, CTP is expected to purchase the modules from Yingli in the fourth quarter of this year.

According to JLM Pacific Epoch, Suntech products will soon be available in more stores in Japan. Yamada Denki, a Japanese retail store that distributes Suntech products, is expected to expand the number of its locations that carry Suntech products from 50 to 450. This should help Suntech meet its goal of expanding to take 10% of the Japanese market in 2009. … Read the rest
According to Barrons, Barclays Vishal Shah came out with a warning today saying trouble in the solar sector is far from over and cut the sector to Neutral. Solar stocks are under pressure today on the warning, but the report out of LDK Solar last night isn’t helping either. Both of the solar ETFs (tickers TAN, KWT) are breaking back below their 50 day moving averages with heavy volume today.
Suntech just announced that they have been chosen to supply solar panels to the Sham’s Tower on Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Under the agreement with Aldar Properties PJSC, Suntech will provide 1,120 panels to be used to create a 292 KW solar system on the roof of the building. Energy Conversion Devices now has a a multi-year direct supply agreement with Mercury Solar Systems. Under the agreement, Energy Conversion Devices will sell its UNI-SOLAR PV laminates to Mercury, and provide them with technical support for future PV installations. Mercury believes it will purchase 15 MW of the laminates from Energy Conversion Devices.

Suntech just announced that they have signed a supply contract with Recurrent Energy. Under the contract, Suntech will supply Recurrent with more than 25,000 modules. Recurrent will use these to construct a 5 MW solar installation on top of San Franscisco’s Sunset Reservoir. Suntech will deliver all of the modules in the 4th quarter of this year. Tate posted last month about speculation that Suntech was working on a 500MW deal in China. Today, Suntech’s press office confirmed the deal for PV-tech.org. The article quotes an unnamed source from Suntech as saying that the deal is “a non-binding strategic agreement similar to our agreement with the Qinghai government.” Suntech reportedly signed the agreement on June 26th.
