KSK Surya Photovoltaic Venture, Private Limited (KSK) has contracted with Applied Materials to buy two Applied SunFab™ Thin Film Lines, used to produce high-power output 5.7m2 solar panels. The lines will be installed in the 150 MW production facility that KSK Surya is building in Hyderabad, India. Under a 5 year service agreement, Applied Materials will support and maintain the lines.
Canadian Solar just announced that it has signed an agreement with Satcon, the utility scale power solutions provider. As part of the turnkey solution distribution agreement between the two companies, they will be bundling Canadian Solar’s commercial solar PV systems with Satcon’s commercial solar PV inverters and marketing them together.

Suntech just announced that is has connected the first 10 MW, ground mount solar power project to the Chinese power grid. The project, completed through collaboration with Suntech’s partner China Energy Conservation Investment Corporation (CECIC). This milestone represents the completion of the first phase of a larger, 50MW project that is expected to be finished in 2011.
In a press release, Dr. Zhengrong Shi, Suntech’s Chairman and CEO, commented on the news:
NRG Energy just announced that it has been chosen by the city of Houston to build and operate a 10 MW solar power installation, according to Reuters. The project will be constructed at NRG’s Wharton Generating Station using First Solar’s PV modules.

Suntech just announced that it has achieved another world record for multi-crystalline module conversion efficiency. In August, Suntech broke Sandia National Lab’s previous record of 15.5 percent. Now, it has broken its own record by achieving conversion efficiencies of 16.53%, as verified by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE.

LDK Solar just announced that they have finished the first production run of the 5,000 metric ton (MT) train in their Xinyu, China plant. They have also begun ramping up production at the plant, which has a yearly capacity of 15,000 metric tons.

Yingli Green Energy just announced a cooperation and supply agreement with SiC Processing AG to recycle its silicon manufacturing waste. Under the agreement, SiC, which has a processing facility inside Yingli’s Baoding plant, will double its capacity to be able to handle Yingli’s exhausted siicon cutting slurries, from 15,000 tons to 30,000 tons. The expansion will be completed by next year, and SiC will supply the recycled silicon components exclusively to Yingli until 2020.
Together with its partner Jianwei Solar, Evergreen Solar held a groundbreaking ceremony today in Wuhan, China to mark the start of the construction of their 100 MW manufacturing plants. During the ceremony, leaders from both companies were joined by political leaders from Wuhan City and Hubei province. Construction on the plant began last month and is set to be completed by next spring.
China Sunergy just announced a new sales contract with NUE PTY Ltd, aka “NU Energy,” an Australian PV firm. Under the contracts, China Sunergy expects to ship Nu Energy 10MW of monocrystalline solar modules by early 2010. Shipments started in June of this year, and an ongoing sales relationship between the two companies is expected.
