Sunpower (SPWRA) Beats By Wide Margin, But Is It Enough?

Sunpower (SPWRA) has announced earnings results after the bell today that doubled the analyst estimates on the EPS side at .26/share on revenues of $550 million vs the analyst estimate for $471 million.  While that’s a big bump over the average estimate it’s not impressive when compared to the year ago quarter when the company reported .46 EPS.  I just don’t think the quarter is going to be enough for another big leg up in … Read the rest

SunPower (SPWRA) To Partner With CO Springs Utilities On 6MW Plant

SunPower just announced that they will be partnering with Colorado Springs Utilities to build a 6MW solar power plant at the U.S. Air Force Academy. It should be up and running by 2011, and will remove approximately 9,400 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere each year.

Sunpower (SPWRA) & Iberdrola Renewables Partner On 30MW Colorado Solar Plant

SunPower (SPWRA) and Iberdrola Renewables have announced plans to partner on a 30MW solar plant on 216 acres of private land in Colorado which is expected to come online by the end of next year.  The plant will be owned and operated by Iberdrola and use Sunpower’s E19 solar panels mounted to the Suntracker systems to maximize efficiency.  The electricity generated will be sold under a long term contract to Xcel Energy (XEL).

Deutsche Not Bullish On US Solar (WFR, SPWRA); Sterne Agee Says LED Pricing Stable

Green Stocks Ratings Roundup (ITRI, AMSC, SPWRA)

Barclays came out with a few calls yesterday, maintaining its Equalweight rating  on both  Itron (ITRI) and American Superconductor (AMSC).

The firm has a $70 price target on ITRI which is about 15% higher than the current price.  They are raising 2010 estimates from $3.35 to $3.65 and 2011 estimates from $3.67 to $4.06.  Shares of ITRI are increasingly bullish in recent weeks, getting back above resistance of the 50 day moving average.  In my … Read the rest

Canaccord Bullish On JASO, Downgrades STP, SPWRA

Canaccord Genuity is out with a few ratings changes in the solar space. 

The firm has upgraded JA Solar (JASO) from Hold to Buy and raised the price target nearly 50% to $11.  Shares are falling another 3% today despite the upgrade indicating the stock is a bit tired following a torrid run.
