Trina Solar (TSL) Beats By Wide Margin, Raises Guidance, But Not Enough

Trina Solar (TSL) as expected has posted impressive Q3 results this morning, but it’s not enough and the stock is trading down more than 5%.  The company reported an an EPS of $1.08/share which is well ahead of the analyst estimate of .87/share on revenues of $508 million vs the analyst estimate of just $420 million.  Solar shipments came in much better than the previous estimate of 250 – 260MW at 290MW and gross margins … Read the rest

Auriga Maintains Buy On Trina Solar (TSL) Heading Into Earnings, Sees Big Upside Surprise

Auriga is out this morning maintaining its Buy rating and raising the price target to $38 on Trina Solar (TSL) ahead of its earnings report next Tuesday.  They believe the company has been selling at higher prices and higher volumes than the Street predicts to finish out 2010 and that 2011 will be stronger than expected as well.

Credit Suisse Has Solar Supply Concerns, Downgrades SOLR, TSL, SOL, FSLR, JASO, STP

According to Barron’s, Credit Suisse is out this morning downgrading several solar stocks due to concerns about oversupply and softening demand next year.  Analyst Satya Kumar sees new capacity of 2GW/month this quarter with an overall increase of 50% next year while demand remains flat.  As a result, pricing could decline quicker than expected.

He’s downgrading six solar stocks, all of which are under pressure today.

Hapoalim Remains Cautiously Bullish On China Solars (TSL, YGE)

Hapoalim Securities is raising its 2010 and 2011 estimates on Trina Solar (TSL) and is raising the price target from $21 – $27 driven by firm pricing, a rebounding Euro and lower input costs.  Shares of TSL were hit hard on Friday with heavy volume, but held support at the 200 day moving average and our recovering a bit today.

Analysts Bullish On Several Green Stocks (AMSC, SRCL, WFR, SOLF, STP, FSLR, TSL)

Wunderlich Securities rates American Superconductor (AMSC) a Buy and has a $50 price target which would represent a nearly 70% move up from current levels.  The firm notes that the company has significant cash reserves and no debt.  Shares of AMSC continue to remain in basing pattern and are now testing resistance of the 200 day moving average.

Jefferies Remains Bullish On China Solar – TSL, YGE, JASO, SOLF

Jefferies reiterated its Buy ratings on Trina Solar (TSL), Yingli Green Energy (YGE), JA Solar (JASO) and Solarfun (SOLF) this morning.
