Raser Technologies (RZ) Surges After Canceling Equity Offering; Reports In Line AH

Raser Technologies (RZ) surged nearly 20% today after the company decided to cancel its plans to raise cash through equity offerings.  The reason?  The company felt that the dilution was hurting the stock price too much! No sh@$#@t.  You have to wonder about the brains behind this operation if they didn’t realize more equity offerings would weigh on the stock.  I’m sure it’s been done, but I don’t believe I have ever seen a company … Read the rest

Emcore (EMKR) Narrows Loss, Closer To Profitability

EMCORE (EMKR) appears to be on the verge of profitability again after 3 years of losses (6 of past 7).  The company reported an EPS loss .02 on revenues of $48.2 million.  I see that only one analyst covers the stock and only see a revenue estimate of $45.5 million at Yahoo, so the company beats there.  That’s a big improvement over the .19/share loss the company reported in the year ago quarter and marks … Read the rest

Zoltek (ZOLT) Misses Again, But Still Sees Strong 2nd Half

Zoltek Companies (ZOLT) has made it a habit to miss Wall St estimates and they did it again this quarter as the company continues to have trouble turning it around.  The stock has been improving significantly technically in the past couple months leading many to believe (including myself), that the company might report decent results this time around.  Nada.  They reported another healthy loss of .14/share which was significantly worse than the .06/share loss analysts … Read the rest

Ener1 (HEV) Misses, Ramps Up Production For THINK Electric Car

Ener1 (HEV) is still what I would call a development stage company, so the earnings reports aren’t as important as the news flow during the quarter.  Let’s take a look and see how they did anyway.  The company missed analyst estimates by a bit posting an EPS loss of .13 on revenues of $11 million.  Those results are about in line with what they reported last quarter.

Advanced Battery Tech (ABAT) Beats On Strong Electric Bike Sales

Advanced Battery Tech (ABAT) beat estimates after the bell today posting an EPS .04 cents better than analyst estimates at .11/share . Revenue for the quarter was $19.5 million, which compares to the estimate of $18.82 million.  That’s nearly a doubling of revenues over the year ago quarter, but about in line with what they reported last quarter ($21.5 in revs).  All in all, a nice a quarter from ABAT.  It appears their electric bike Read the rest

LDK Solar (LDK) Beats Estimates, Guides Way Above Street

Earnings results from the solar companies continue to be strong and that’s the case for LDK Solar (LDK) after the bell today.  I don’t see a non GAAP number and no clear one time charges for this company, so I’ll stick with the GAAP EPS number of .06/share which beat analyst estimates of .01/share.  Revenues were strong at $347.6 million vs the analyst estimate of $326. The quarter marks the 3rd straight profitable quarter with … Read the rest

Today’s Analyst Ratings Roundup: Upgrades Of SPWRA, ERII, RBCN, ITRI, BWA

Auriga has reversed its call after last week’s selling, upgrading SunPower (SPWRA) from Sell to Hold.  “Shares of SPWRA are now trading below our price target of $15 and are essentially 1.0x book value of $14.26.”  The firm expects the company’s presentation following its earnings report tomorrow to be optimistically bullish.  While demand for solar continues to improve, the still believe that margins will erode due to increasing competition and maintain the $15 price target.  … Read the rest

Energy Conversion Devices (ENER) Beats, Shares Recover, But Big Losses Continue

Energy Conversion Devices (ENER) reported another sizable loss of .64/share (excluding large impairment charge of $358 million), but it did beat the .75/loss analysts had been expecting.  Revenues also came in higher than expected at $72 million vs the estimate of $61 million.  It’s a glimmer of hope for a company that has really struggled, but they’re still a long ways from returning to profitability and are expected to continue racking up losses at least … Read the rest

Construction is expected to start in the summer of 2010… Read the rest

One of the largest orders was from Spain, for two aqueous ammonia-based Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems for nitrogen oxide (NOx) reduction at municipal solid waste (MSW) incinerators. This order should be completed in the current quarter.
