Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) Buys Oilseed Plant In Czech Republic

Archer Daniels Midland just announced that it has purchased an oilseed plant in the Czech Republic from ViaChem Group. The plant consists of facilities for crushing oilseeds, refining them and producing biodiesel. In addition to energy, the plant produces oil and meal for the food and feed markets.

Capstone (CPST) Receives Microturbine Follow On Orders Of $3 Million

Capstone Turbine (CPST) announced this morning follow on orders of $3 million from two large oil and gas companies in Australia and New Mexico.  The orders are for forty-two C30s, one C600 and one C1000 and are scheduled for delivery before the end of Capstone’s fiscal year on March 31st 2010.

Enbridge (ENB) To Purchase Solar Energy Project In Ontario From First Solar (FSLR)

Enbridge and First Solar just announced that Enbridge will acquire a 20 MW solar energy project that First Solar is constructing near Sarnia, Ontario.  When the project is complete at the end of this year, it will be the largest PV solar energy plant in Canada, powering about 3,200 homes. Under the agreement, First Solar will continue to provide operations and maintenance services for the plant after construction is completed.

Recurrent Chooses Energy Conversion Devices (ENER) For 4.8 MW Spanish Solar Project

Energy Conversion Devices just announced that it has been selected by Recurrent Energy to provide 4.8MW of its UNI-SOLAR photovoltaic (PV) laminates to be used on eight building rooftops at 2 business parks owned by Prologis in Spain. Energy Conversion Devices’ Solar Integrated subsidiary will provide development resources.

BorgWarner (BWA) To Provide Energy And Drivetrain Tech For 2010 Ford Fusion And Mercury Milan

BorgWarner just announced that its energy and drivetrain technologies will be used in the 2010 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan. The company’s contributions include Cam Torque Actuated (CTA(TM)) variable cam timing (VCT) technology, the first of its kind, which improves the efficiency and fuel economy of the engine. BorgWarner also designed chain timing systems for the 2.5 and 3 liter engines. Canadian Solar (CSIQ) Joins Forces With Satcon (SATC)

Canadian Solar just announced that it has signed an agreement with Satcon, the utility scale power solutions provider. As part of the turnkey solution distribution agreement between the two companies, they will be bundling Canadian Solar’s commercial solar PV systems with Satcon’s commercial solar PV inverters and marketing them together.

Raser (RZ) Gets Additional Extension on Thermo No. 1 Plant

Raser just announced that they have signed a new extension agreement with their financing partners that once again extends the deadline for completion of their Thermo No. 1 plant. The new agreement extends the final completion date to October 16th from October 1st, and provides Raser with an opportunity to further restructure its financing agreements in according with the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.

First Solar (FSLR) Up On S&P Addition, Upgrade To Buy

First Solar (FSLR) is up a bit in premarket trading after it was announced last night the company would join the S&P500, replacing Wyeth.  The upgrade from Janney Montgomery Scott to Buy is also helping.  The firm has a price target of $185.

Duke Energy (DUK) Gets 2 Wind Farms Up And Running

Duke Energy just announced that they have 2 new wind farms up and running: the 70 North Allegheny Windpower Project in Pennsylvania, which will sell power to FirstEnergy under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement, and the 42-MW Silver Sage Windpower Project in Wyoming, which will sell power to Cheyenne Light Fuel & Power and Platte River Power Authority.
