American Superconductor (AMSC) Gets $100 Million Follow On Sinovel Contract

American Superconductor (AMSC) has landed another contract from China’s largest wind turbine company Sinovel.  This time it’s a big one – $100 million to be exact. AMSC will supply Sinovel core electrical components for its 3MW wind turbines and begin shipping in March of next year.

Hoku Scientific (HOKU) Gets A Chinese Bailout, Shares Soar

Hoku Scientific (HOKU) has been thrown a big Chinese life preserver and shares are soaring in after hours trading.  China’s Tianwei New Energy Holdings announced a definitive agreement after the bell today to convert $50 million in prepayments to Hoku into common stock and related warrants (giving the company 60% ownership), another $50 million in debt financing and a commitment to help Hoku obtain additional financing if needed.    Financing will be provided by Tianwei and … Read the rest

Fuel Systems Solutions (FSYS) Subsidiary IMPCO Receives EPA And CARB Approval

Fuel Systems Solutions just announced that propane and gasoline GM industrial engines produced by its subsidiary, IMPCO, have been approved by both  the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Energy Focus, Inc, To Acquire Stones River Companies

Energy Focus, Inc just announced that they have signed a letter of intent to purchase Stones River Companies. The purchase of the Nashville, Tennessee-based company will give them access to  the $100 billion market in the public sector for energy-efficient lighting.  The deal is expected to be complete within the next 90 days.

Powersecure Intl (POWR) Gets $12 Million Smart Grid Power Systems/Infrastructure Order

Hapoalim Securities: Gloomy Days Ahead For Most Solar Stocks (FSLR, WFR, STP, SPWRA)

Applied Materials (AMAT) Gets Service Contract From Fujitsu Microelectronics

Applied Materials just announced that it has been granted a contract to service Fujitsu’s 300mm semiconductor factory in Mie, Japan. Under the contract, Applied Materials will service 100 chipmaking st ystems at the plant that use the company’s  Applied Performance Service(TM) solution. Applied Materials will also use Applied E3(TM) advanced equipment and process control technology to improve the efficiency and profitability of the plant as a whole.

Fuel Systems Solutions has announced that they are in the process of lining up automotive fleet customers for  their EPA-certified bi-fuel systems. NRG Energy (NRG) To Construct 10MW Solar Project For The City Of Houston

NRG Energy just announced that it has been chosen by the city of Houston to build and operate a 10 MW solar power installation, according to Reuters. The project will be constructed at NRG’s Wharton Generating Station using  First Solar’s PV modules.
