EnerNoc (ENOC) Acquires Greenhouse Gas Software Firm eQuilibrium Solutions

EnerNoc (ENOC), the demand response company quickly moving towards profitability is expanding its reach with today’s announcement of the purchase of greenhouse gas software and services firm eQuilibrium who’s current clients include Sears and News Corp.  eQuilibrium’s software will eventually be integrated into EnerNOC’s existing PowerTalk platform but the company doesn’t expect this deal to have any impact on its financial results this year.  Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Canadian Solar (CSIQ) To Boost Output

Canadian Solar just announced that it intends to bump up its yearly production of solar modules from 620 MW to 800 MW. The increase in production is scheduled to be in place by mid-August, and will prepare the company for an expected increase in demand.

To meet the new production goals, Canadian Solar plans to hire 2,000 additional workers on top of its existing staff of 3,000.

A-Power (APWR) Continues Push Into Biofuels Industry With $14 Million Sanmenxia Deal

China Government Invests $44 Million In A-Power Energy (APWR) Shenyang Power Group

A-Power Energy (APWR) is announcing today that the Shenyang government is planning to invest a total of $44 million in the Shenyang Power Group which is a local industry alliance headed by A-Power (60% owner) to pursue large scale clean energy projects both within and outside of China.  As part of the investment, the government will appoint a local Shenyang bank and guaranty company to participate in the alliance.

Satcon (SATC) Provides Inverters For Large Rooftop Solar Installation In Orange County

Sunoco (SUN) Buys Ethanol Plant in New York

Sunoco just announced that it has finished purchasing an ethanol plant in Volney, New York. The plant is capable of producing 100 million gallons of ethanol each year, and will meet approximately 25% of Sunoco’s expected ethanol needs. Sunoco bought the facility from Northeast Biofuels for $8.5 million. The location of the plant was an important consideration in the purchase, as it is close to most of Sunoco’s retail gasoline locations.

A-Power Energy (APWR) Big Earnings Miss, But Raised Guidance; CEO: "Seasonal Weakness"

A-Power Energy (APWR) is trading down this morning after badly missing earnings estimates.  The company reported an EPS of just .04/share which was well short of analyst estimates of .12 and a more than 50% drop over the year ago quarter.  Revenues were basically flat over the year ago quarter at 31.2%.  The CEO is blaming the poor quarter on seasonality and poor weather conditions in Northeast China.. perhaps he needs to take a … Read the rest

Yingli Green Energy (YGE) Signs Sales Agreement With China Mobile, Will Supply Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. With PV Modules

Yingli Green Energy just announced that it has signed a sales agreement with China Mobile’s Shanxi subsidiary. China Mobile is building a video monitoring system in Shanxi to help catch forest fires, and Yingli will provide them with off-grid PV modules to help power the system.  Under the contract, Yingli will provide a total of 269 units, which will provide .49 MW of power.

EMCORE (EMKR) Wins Contract With NASA

EMCORE Corporation has just announced that it has a contract with NASA to produce solar panels for NASA’s Global Precipitation Measurement spacecraft. The spacecraft will study precipitation (rain, snow and ice) around the world, and is scheduled to launch in 2013.
