LDK Solar (LDK) Advises It Has Adequate Standing Wafer Orders

Despite the global economic crisis, LDK Solar has stated that it still has enough standing orders for its solar wafers to keep the company stable. According to the company, it received 14 orders for solar wafers last year and is scheduled to deliver 14,000 megawatts worth of product by 2019.

A123 Systems Gets Additional GE Funding

General Electric (GE) continues to invest in Michigan based, lithium ion batter maker A123 Systems, providing another $15 million in financing and gaining a seat on the board in exchange.  This follows the recent announcement that A123 Systems was selected by Chrysler to develop lithium batteries for their line of electric vehicles due out in 2013.. assuming of course Chrysler stays in business or is bought out.  GE now owns about 10% of A123 Systems … Read the rest

GE (GE) And Vestas Wind Systems (VWSF) Take 56% Of US Market

Together, General Electric Company and Vestas Wind Systems took a combined 56% of the US market in 2008, selling an unprecedented 4,648 megawatts. Raser Technologies (RZ) Will Showcase Plug-In Hybrid SUV

Truck and SUV owners may soon be able to have their cake and eat it, too. Raser Technologies just announced that it will showcase an extended-range plug-in hybrid SUV that gets over 100 miles per gallon at the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Congress in Detroit. And, according to Raser, it’s fast and powerful enough to satisfy even the  toughest drivers.

Helio Micro Utility Signs Agreement To Buy 5MW Of Solar Modules From Canadian Solar (CSIQ)

Canadian Solar has just announced that it has signed a 5 MW purchase agreement with Helio Micro Utility. Under the agreement, Helio Micro Utility will purchase 5 MW of solar modules from Canadian Solar’s line of PV solar modules.

Applied Materials (AMAT) Signs Contract With Tower Semiconductor (TSEM)

Tower Semiconductor and Applied Materials just signed a 5-year contract that allows Applied Materials’  to provide support for their wafer processing systems at Tower’s plant in Migdal Haemek, Israel through the Applied Performance Service program. Under the contract, Applied Materials will provide technical support for all of the Applied Materials tools in the facility.

With Applied Material’s share prices suffering in the wake of a $1.9 billion solar contract being cut to $250 million, the company is taking steps to try to ensure continued demand for its products.
