Cree Inc (CREE) has announced this morning the availability of the new XLamp XP-C color LED’s which are 10 – 50% brighter than its current line of midrange color LED’s.  They are designed for .5 – 1 watt operation and compatible with existing optical designs, reducing design costs.

Big Insider Selling At First Solar (FSLR) & Cree Inc (CREE)

First Solar (FSLR) and Cree Inc (CREE) are two stocks moving in opposite directions, but they have one thing in common –  the Chairman of both companies, Michael Ahearn at FSLR and Chuck Swoboda at CREEl, have been dumping stock.  According to Street Insider, Ahearn has sold off 43% of his holdings or nearly $150 million just days after the company reported earnings.  A move like that doesn’t exactly exude confidence and the stock … Read the rest

Rubicon (RBCN) Beats Estimates, Guides Above As LED Demand Remains Strong

Rubicon Technology (RBCN) is getting closer to returning to profitability, reporting a loss of .04/share on revenues of $8.5 million, both of which beat analyst estimates of a .05 loss on revenues of $7.3 million.  Sequential revenue continues to improve quickly with 49% growth over last quarter.  The company expects to return to profitability next quarter with estimates of an EPS of .03 gain on revenues of $10.5 million.  Both estimates are above Wall St … Read the rest

LED Plays Cree Inc (CREE) & Aixtron (AIXG) Get Downgrades, Rolling Over

Two LED lighting plays that were on fire last year appear to be in the beginning stages of rolling over after torrid runs and downgrades from Merriman Curhan today didn’t help.

Obama Touts ARC Energy Which Could Help Slash LED Lighting Costs

At a recent rally in New Hampshire, Barack Obama specifically mentioned LED lighting and described a company that could help to slash the cost of LED lighting.  I did a little research and discovered the company he was referring to is privately held Arc Energy LLC of Nashua, NH.  Its founder, Kedar Gupta is no stranger to cleantech success, having founded GT Solar (SOLR) with just $1000 and cashing out a few years ago.

PowerSecure (POWR) Announced Smart Grid, LED Orders Totaling $35 Mill

Energy Focus (EFOI) Receives $1.6 Million In Grants For LED Lighting

Energy Focus (EFOI) has received 3 grants totaling $1.6 million  this morning for its LED lighting solutions.  The R&D team won two Phase 2 Small Biz Innovation Research awards from the Defense Research Projects Agency and one Phase 1 Small Biz Technology Transfer grant from NASA

Cree (CREE) Signs Distribution Agreement With Arrow Electronics

Cree just announced a new distribution agreement with Arrow Electronics. Under the agreement, Arrow will distribute Cree’s SiC Junction Barrier Schottky (JBS) products, including the 600-V Schottky diodes and the 1200-V Schottky diode line.

In a press release, Bob Pollock, Cree’s senior VP of sales, commented on the news:
