Air Products just announced a new turnkey gas supply contract with Gadir Solar. Under the agreement, Air Products will supply Gadir with liquid specialty gases used in manufacturing thin-film solar products for its new facility in Puerto Real, Cadiz, Spain. Air Products will also provide Gadir with equipment for handling the gases and related support.
Trina Solar issued a statement describing the companies operational highlights for the 4th quarter of 2008. The company managed to meet its solar module shipment target, shipping between 55 and 60 MW. Also, it was able to reduce the non-silicon-related costs of manufacturing its solar modules by approximately .13 per watt.

Yingli Green Energy Holding Co Ltd announced that Yingli Energy (China) Co. Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary, has signed an agreement for a three year loan facility with ADM Capital. The agreement will provide Yingli Green Energy with more capital to fuel its business growth.

Suntech Power (STP) is out this morning releasing preliminary financial results for the 4th quarter in which it expects revenues to exceed previous guidance of 345 – 360 million and come in at 405- 420 million.

MEMC Electronics (WFR) beat Wall St estimates after the bell today, but the good news ends right there. The company posted non GAAP profits of .65/share, which beat estimates of .61 but represented the first quarter of negative growth (-12%) over the year ago quarter in a couple years. ReneSola and BP Solar have signed a supply agreement with each other. Under the contract, ReneSola will provide 120 MW of monocrystalline and multicrystalline solar wafers in 2009. BP will then provide ReneSola with 700 metric tons of polysilicon.
ReneSola’s CEO, Mr. Xianshou Li, commented on the significance of the deal:

LDK Solar held an opening ceremony for Phase I of its 16,000-ton polysilicon project. Construction began on the project in Xinyu City, China in February of last year. The project will eventually produce 16,000 tons of polysilison per year, which will be used to make solar wafers. This will help decrease LDK’s production cost while ensuring a reliable supply.
