JA Solar (JASO) Gets 60MW Supply Deal With Solar Power Inc (SOPW.OB)

JA Solar (JASO) has announced a one year supply deal with China based Solar Power Inc (SOPW.OB) which will supply SPI with 60MW of its 6” polycrystalline photovoltaic cells.  No word on the financials of the deal.

Solars Hold Up Well Despite Piper Jaffray Estimate Cuts

According to StreetInsider.com, Piper Jaffray is out cutting estimates on the solar sector due to poor visibility.  Piper analyst Jesse Pichel lowered industry estimates for the 1st half of 09 and downgraded their rating of Canadian Solar (CSIQ) to Sell and ReneSola (SOL) to Neutral due to low order visibility for Q1 in Germany and zero visibility in other markets but expects some recovery in late spring, early summer but only if credit markets … Read the rest

Yingli Green Energy (YGE) Gets $70 Million Loan, Replaces VP

In the midst of a credit crisis, Yingli Green Energy (YGE) isn’t having a problem getting a loan to expand operations.  The company has announced that China Development Bank, which is owned by the Chinese government, has provided the company with a conditional $70 million, 8 year loan agreement.

China Sunergy (CSUN) Signs Deal With Ajit Solar

China Sunergy just announced a one-year agreement to supply India-based Ajit Solar with 2MW of multi-crystalline solar cells. Under the terms of the agreement, China Sunergy will deliver the solar cells in 2 installments, with a 5 MW delivery expected in the 1st half of the year and 7 MW expected in the second half.

Suntech Power (STP) To Provide Solar Power For 2010 World Expo In Shanghai

Suntech Power announced that it has been selected to provide solar power for the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. According to the bid, Suntech will "supply, design and install building integrated photovoltaic systems with a total capacity of 3MW on the China and Theme Pavilions." Trina Solar(TSL) Announces New UMG-Silicon Based Brand

Trina Solar is launching a new brand of  Upgraded Metallurgical Grade ("UMG") silicon-based solar modules and products. The brand will be called MeSolar, and is an attempt to address consumer demand for solar products that offer both reliability and cost savings.

A Boost For Solar Stocks: The Weakening Dollar
