GE Energy (GE) Gets Wind Turbine Supply Contract With HECIC New Energy Co., Ltd
China’s HECIC New Energy Co., Ltd has selected GE Energy to supply wind turbines for 3 wind projects three new projects in Hebei and Shanxi Provinces. Under the agreement, GE will supply 88 1.5-megawatt wind turbines to HECIC New Energy. To make the turbines easier to connect to the grid and to improve reliability and stability, they will include GE’s Low Voltage Ride-Through and Wind Farm Management Systems technology.

Broadwind Energy (BWEN) Feeling The Canceled Pickens Wind Turbine Order
There’s a good piece from Eric Savitz over at Barron’s discussing the loss of business Broadwind Energy (BWEN) faces following the cancellation by Boone Pickens of half of that large, $2 billion wind turbine order from GE. Broadwind supplies parts to GE for these turbines and the stock is getting hit as a result. The selling picked up yesterday and continues today with record sell volume. A return to the November lows appears inevitable.

American Superconductor (AMSC) To Develop 5MW Wind Turbines With Dongfang Turbine For Offshore Wind Market
American Superconductor has signed a follow on order with Dongfang Turbine this morning and the companies will jointly design and develop 5MW wind turbines for the offshore wind power market. Dongfang is a top China machinery company that entered the wind turbine market 5 years ago and is currently China’s 3rd largest wind turbine manufacturer. A-Power Energy (APWR) Gets Exclusive 2MW Wind Turbine Licensing Deal
A-Power Energy (APWR) has announced it signed an exclusive 2MW wind turbine deal with W2E Technologies and will license W2E technology to manufacture, operate, service and sell the turbines within the US and China. APWR will have non exclusive rights to market the turbines outside of China & the US. Financials of the deal haven’t been disclosed. Traders like the news premarket and the stock is up about 4%.

Wells Fargo (WFC) Upgraded FPL Group (FPL) To Outperform

AES Wind Generation (AES) Opens New Wind Facility In Pennsylvania
AES Wind Generation just announced that its 101 MW Armenia Mountain wind farm in Pennsylvania is up and running. AES will sell the 100% of the power produced by the plant to nearby utilities Delmarva Power and Light and Old Dominion Electric Cooperative under 15 year power purchase agreements, with each utility taking 50% of the output.
