JA Solar (JASO) Gets 60MW Supply Deal With Solar Power Inc (SOPW.OB)

JA Solar (JASO) has announced a one year supply deal with China based Solar Power Inc (SOPW.OB) which will supply SPI with 60MW of its 6” polycrystalline photovoltaic cells.  No word on the financials of the deal.

JA Solar Holdings Co, Ltd (JASO) Revises Guidance

JA Solar announced it is revising it’s guidance for the 4th quarter based on the economic slowdown.

Previously, the company had predicted revenue of RMB 1.3 billion or $191.5 million to RMB 1.5 billion or $220.9 million. However. JA Solar has reduced that expectation to about RMB 843 million or $124 million. The company still expects to earn a gross margin of between 5 to 7 percent and expects to break even on earnings/ADS.

Yesterday it was announced that Holzer & Fistel LLC was investigating possible federal securities violations of JA Solar (JASO) due to a failure to disclose in a timely manner that it had purchased a $100 million 3 month note from Lehman Bros. at a time when LEH was under severe financial distress.

Wedge Partners Says China Solar Companies Slowing Production

According to Barrons, Wedge Partners was out with a research note this morning saying that the China based solar companies are slowing production in anticipation of falling demand and prices.

– Suntech (STP) is laying off about 10% of its employees, idled half its production lines and shelved plans to expand to 1.2GW by the end of the year

Credit Suisse Lowers Price Targets For Several Major Solar Stocks (JASO, SOL, STP)

24/7WallStreet.com notes that Credit Suisse has lowered price targets on several major solar stocks. Apparently, with the economic downturn, shares just aren’t selling for as much as the used to, and the price targets were adjusted to reflect the new economic reality.
