Real Goods Solar recently celebrated the completion of a 417 kW system for Richmond Village, an affordable housing community in the San Francisco Bay area. The company will participate in an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 4th. So far, Real goods Solar has designed and installed 790 kW worth of solar installations for affordable housing communities in the area.
Yingli Green Energy just announced the signing of a 3 year framework agreement with German solar integrator Gehrlicher Solar AG. Per the agreement, Yingli will supply 285MW worth of PV modules to Gerlicher for the next 3 years, until 2012. The modules will be used in installations across various European markets.
In a press release, Mr. Liansheng Miao, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Yingli Green Energy, commented on the agreement:
Constellation Energy (CEG) announced today that it will commit $90 million to the development of commercial solar projects. Hoku just announced that effective March 31, Dustin Shindo will step down as Hoku chairman, president and CEO, although he will continue to serve the company in advisory position as a consultant. Shindo advised that he was stepping down for “personal reasons.”

LDK Solar just announced that they have signed a supply contract with Oneworld Energy’s subsidiary COU Solar. Per the contract, LDK will deliver around 30 MW of solar modules to COU this year.

Sunpower just announced that it will be partnering with Etrion to build 4 solar power plants in southern Italy. Altogether, the plants will provide 4MW of solar energy. Sunpower will handle design, construction, operations and maintenance on the plants, which will use its “Tracker” technology.
The companies plan to break ground on the new construction by the end of November, and the plants should be up and running by late 2010.
First Solar just announced that it has purchased a planned 115 MW solar energy project, the Carrizo Energy Solar Farm, from Ausra. According to the New York Times, First Solar doesn’t plan to build the project, but instead will use the land to change the layout of its nearby Topaz project, making it more wildlife friendly and increasing the chances that it will be approved.

Suntech just announced the closure of a 115 MW deal with EnXco, a unit of EDF Energies Nouvelles. The solar modules will be delivered next year 2010), and the partnership may be expanded in the future.
