Suntech just announced that it will be implementing a new North American sales partner program, designed to attract more installers and help affiliated dealers increase sales. Dealers in the program will have access to a co-marketing fund, training, other services and will be first in line for Suntech products. Suntech has also created a new and improved online account access portal for its dealers.
Energy Conversion Devices just announced that their Uni-Solar Laminates have been selected by Austin Energy for a 136-kW rooftop solar installation at Austin Water Utility’s Glen Bell Service Center. The installation, the largest solar rooftop installation in Austin, will consist of 1,000 Uni-Solar laminates and cover 23,250 square feet of roof space.

Canadian Solar just announced that its CS5A and CS5P series have set a new record for PTC ratings in P-Type silicon modules, earning rating of ratings of 190 and 250 watts in tests designed to simulate real-world power generation conditions.
Canadian Solar also announced that its new Enhanced Selective Emitter (ESE) technology, which enhances the performance of solar cells, has been tested successfully.
Ascent Solar just announced that they will be supplying FTL Solar with solar modules to use in its research and development contract with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority. Under the contract, FTL will work on developing lighter, more flexible solar energy production systems using Ascent’s modules.

China Sunergy just announced that it has signed a solar products framework agreement with Opsun, a Canadian company that makes solar panels, mounting systems and solar concentrators. Under the agreement, China Sunergy will deliver 100 MW of solar cells and modules to Opsun between 2009 and 2014.

Ascent Solar just announced that they have achieved a new manufacturing milestone: 14% cell efficiency for the CIGS-on-plastic-substrate cells produced at Ascent’s Fab1 plant in Littleton, Colorado. The 14% efficiency was measured by NREL, and Ascent also says it has been able to achieve 11.7% efficiency in tests of its monolithically integrated CIGS modules from the same plant.
Solarfun just announced that it has signed a supply contract with Meridian Neue Energien GmbH. Under the contract, Solarfun will provide Meridian with 5MW of solar PV modules, which are expected to be connected to the grid by December of this year.

Ormat just announced that its Israeli subsidiary has started a new joint venture with Israeli energy company Sunday Energy. Under the agreement, the two companies will work together to develop, construct and operate 36MW of Israeli solar PV systems.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company just announced that it will be adding 290MW of solar energy through contract with Agua Caliente, a subsidiary of NextLight Renewable Energy, LLC. P G & E has been steadily adding solar power from independent developers as of late-this brings the total up to 830 MW.
