Power-One (PWER) Breaks Out On Patent Licensing Deal, Dismissal Of Lawsuits

Power-One (PWER) is breaking out with conviction today to a new 2 year high after it was announced earlier today that the company has been able to settle its differences with Emerson’s subsidiaries Artesyn Technologies and Astec America and agreeing to dismiss all pending lawsuits while allowing the Emerson companies to license Power-One’s digital power technologies.  The technology allows customers to optimize power conversion efficiency, reduce energy costs and enhance energy management.

SEIA Releases 2009 US Solar Energy Review

The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) released its 2009 review today indicating strong growth across the solar market last year.  Here are some highlights…

* US solar electricity capacity increased 37% driven by strong demand in residential and utility scale markets
* 17K new solar jobs created for a total of 46K in the US
* Industry revenue grew 38% to nearly $4 billion

The Bullish Case For JA Solar (JASO) & Canadian Solar (CSIQ)

Euro Tech Holdings (CLWT) Subsidiary Gets $1.6 Million Wastewater Contract

About a week ago Euro Tech Holdings (CLWT) announced that its Shanghai Euro Tech Environmental subsidiary was awarded a $3.2 million wastewater contract from a petrochemical industrial park.  The stock gapped up in the morning, but eventually gave the gains back.  This morning CLWT is moving a bit once again on news its PACT Environmental subsidiary (of which it owns 53%) has won a $1.6 million wastewater contract with a US company in the poultry … Read the rest

BorgWarner (BWA) Technology Used In New Hyundai-Kia Engines

Borgwarner just announced that its variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbochargers will be used in the new 4 cylinder diesel engines on the new Hyundai ix35s and Kia Sportages.

BorgWarner’s new turbochargers provide a variety of enhancements that help these vehicles operate more efficiently, using less fuel and producing fewer emissions.

American Superconductor (AMSC) & GT Solar (SOLR) Get Buy Ratings

A couple Buy ratings to tell you about this morning.  Deutsche Bank has upgraded American Superconductor (AMSC) to Buy and raised the price target $38. Hat tip to Street Insider for the following analyst comment:

LDK Solar (LDK) Inks 20MW Supply Agreement With Phoenix Solar

LDK Solar just announced that it has signed a supply agreement with Phoenix Solar. Per the agreement, LDK will provide Phoenix with approximately 20 megawatts of solar modules later this year.

Azerigas PU To Deploy Itron (ITRI) Smart Meter System

The Azerigas Production Union which is responsible for the transmission and sale of natural gas in the Azerbaijan region of central Asia announced they will implement Itron’s smart meter and payment system in the city of Baku and will roll it out nationwide eventually.  Itron has already begun shipping its smart payment meters and smart cards as well as the management software.  Consumers will be able to purchase meter credit with their smart cards through … Read the rest

Samsonite To Integrate Ascent Solar (ASTI) Thin Film Panels Into Luggage

Cree Inc (CREE) Gets Another Upgrade – Morgan Joseph Buy & $100 Price Target
