Telvent (TLVT) To Provide Technology For Spain Light Rail System

Telvent (TLVT) announced it will provide its SmartMobility Light Rail Solution for the new light rail system in Spain’s Bay of Cadiz which is expected to go live sometime in 2011.  The contract is valued at around $24 million and will require TLVT to install its proprietary automatic ticketing system, traveler info system, CC television surveillance, intercoms, light rail signaling and communications network.

Reliant Energy (NRG) Receives $20 Million DOE Grant For Smart Energy

Reliant Energy, owned by NRG Energy, just announced that it has received a $20 million grant from the Department of Energy under the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. The grant will help Reliant roll out more smart energy options to consumers to help them control their energy use.

STR Holdings (STRI) Pressured On Proposed Secondary Offering

STR Holdings (STRI) is down in pre-market trading today after announcing a proposed secondary offering of 6,500,000 shares of its common stock. The shares will be sold by certain stockholders. In connection with the proposed offering, the selling stockholders will grant to the underwriters an option to purchase up to 975,000 additional shares.

Xcel Energy (XEL) Moves Forward With EnXco On 200MW Nobles Wind Project

Xcel Energy just announced that it has closed on a Wind Project Purchase and Sale Agreement with enXco, an EDF Energies Nouvelles Company, for its forthcoming Nobles wind farm.  The two companies have a history of working well together, having jointly developed 500 megawatts of wind power over the past few years.

Canadian Solar’s (CSIQ) NewEdge Roof-Mounting Solar Panels Now For Sale In The US

Canadian Solar just announced that they have released their NewEdge solar panels in the US market. The panels are compatible with the new Zep roof-mounting System, and used together the products have the potential to reduce installation costs by half and reduce the amount of time spent to install the panels on a roof by 75%.

AES Solar (AES) Scores EUR173 Million In Financing For Italian PV Project

AES Solar, a JV between The AES Corporation and Riverstone Holdings LLC, just announced that it has closed on EUR173 million worth of financing for its planned Cellino San Marco project. The project will consist of a 43 MW solar PV plant in Italy’s Puglia region. American Superconductor (AMSC) Receives Record Smart Grid Order From Vestas

American Superconductor (AMSC) is pushing higher in premarket trading on news that it has received a record grid interconnection order from wind energy giant Vestas.  It’s subsidiary, Vestas Australian Wind Technology has placed an order with AMSC for a large D-VAR-based grid interconnection system, utilizing 24 D-VAR modules integrated with external smart-switched capacitor banks that are optimized for wind farm applications.

Rino Intl (RINO) Reports Strong Results, But Misses Estimates

Rino International (RINO), one of the top China water and remediation plays, reported earnings after the bell today.  Growth was excellent, but it didn’t quite meet Wall St estimates.  The company reported an adjusted EPS of .53/share which was a big jump from the year ago quarter (.28/share), but missed by a penny and was significantly less than last quarter’s record quarter of .68/share.  Revenues came in at $53 million which was a 32% … Read the rest
