Valence (VLNC) To Provide Batteries For Texas Smart Grid Community

Valence Technology just announced that it has been selected to provide lithium phosphate batteries and dynamic energy systems for a new master-planned smart grid community called Discovery at Spring Trails. Valence’s systems will be used to demonstrate a practice called “peak shaving,” which utilizes home appliances more efficiently during peak demand hours.

Trina Solar (TSL) In 2.2MW Thailand Solar Supply Deal

Trina Solar (TSL) has announced a new solar supply deal this morning.  Its subsidiary Changzhou Trina Solar is partnering with Grenzone of Singapore which is a solar integrator working across southeast Asia.  Trina will supply solar nearly 10K modules beginning this month for a 2.2MW solar power plant in Thailand which is expected to come online in August.

Constellation Energy (CEG) To Build 70MW Wind Farm In Maryland

Constellation Energy jut announced that it has finished acquiring the Criterion wind project in Maryland from Clipper Windpower, Inc.  Constellation Energy will build, develop, own and operate the 70 MW wind farm. Power and renewable energy credits produced will be purchased by Old Dominion Electric Cooperative under a 20-year power purchase agreement after the wind farm is up and running, which is scheduled to happen by the end of the year.

Satcon Technology (SATC) Announces 150MW Order from GCL Solar Limited

GCL Solar Limited has just ordered 150 MW worth of 500kW solar PV inverters from Satcon Technology, according to a company announcement from Satcon. Satcon is scheduled to deliver the inverters in April through October of this year.

The two companies established a partnership in 2009 and have worked together on projects including China’s largest rooftop (MW) and largest ground-mounted (20MW) installations.

Eurotech Holdings (CLWT) Awarded $3.2 Million Wastewater Contract

Eurotech Holdings (CLWT) is surging today on news its subsidiary Shanghai Euro Tech Environmental was awarded a $3.2 million wastewater contract from petrochemical industrial park.  CLWT will design, install and commission a 5K cubic meter/day water treatment system.  The CEO didn’t comment on the deal, but did say the company is beginning to recover from the global financial crisis and sees more contracts in 2010.  This particular contract represents 50 – 60% of one quarter … Read the rest

American Superconductor (AMSC) Lands $20 Million India Order

PowerSecure just announced that it has acquired a majority interest in Innovative Electronic Solutions Lighting, LLC as part of an effort to further the growth of its EfficientLights LED lighting business. The acquisition will allow Powersecure to develop new products more effectively and get them out on the market faster.
