First Solar (FSLR) Ramps Up Thin Film Solar Cell Efficiency

In an article over at Bloomberg, it was announced that First Solar (FSLR) will begin incorporating record breaking thin film solar cell technology into its manufacturing process next quarter in order to better compete with its Chinese rivals.  The company developed a cell that can convert at 17.3% and they believe they can get 15.3% from these cells in mass production.  That’s quite a jump from the 11.7% efficiency the company has been averaging. … Read the rest

Verenium (VRNM) Aims To Replace Acids In Fracking Process

Valence Technology (VLNC) Lands $7.2 Million Lithium Battery Order From EVI For UPS Vehicles

It’s been a rough year for lithium battery stocks, but every once in awhile some good news emerges such as the $7.2 million lithium battery order Valence Technology (VLNC) received from Electric Vehicles International (EVI) to be used in 100 UPS trucks around California.  No word on when the vehicles would be placed into service.

Avian Securities Upgraded Yingli Green Energy (YGE), Reiterates Negative View of Suntech (STP)

Suntech Power (STP) To Supply Nearly 30MW In Solar Modules For California Plant

Suntech Power (STP) announced a 28MW solar module supply deal today with SunPeak Solar for a 23MW plant in California across 123 acres.  About 100K units of Suntech’s 285/290W (DC) solar modules will be used in the project which is expected to help power 14000 homes in the area particularly during times of peak demand.

Trina Solar (TSL) Missed Estimates, But Shares Rise Anyway.. Is the Worst Over?

Trina Solar (TSL) reported financial results yesterday that missed analyst estimates, but shares rose anyway which is an indication that the worst is likely over for top tier solar stocks such as Trina Solar.  The company reported an EPS of .32/share on revenues of $580 million vs the analyst estimates for .47/share on revenues of $600 million.
