A-Power (APWR) Surges Again As 600MW Texas Wind Farm Closer To Reality

First Solar (FSLR) Guides 2010 Revenues Above Street, Capacity To Expand 50%

After the bell today First Solar (FSLR) issued guidance for next year with revenues expected to come in between $2.7 – $2.9 billion and EPS between $6.05 – $6.85/share.  The Street was expecting $2.4 billion in revenues and a $6.55/share EPS, so about in line on the EPS side but more optimistic on the revenue side.  The company plans to invest $365 million in two production plants in Malaysia (again, so much for green energy … Read the rest

Echelon (ELON) And GEO Team Up On New Energy Displays

Echelon and Green Energy Options Ltd. (GEO) just announced that they will be collaborating to build new energy displays for Echelon’s Networked Energy Services system. GEO’s displays will communicate with Echelon’s NES smart meters via Zigbee wireless protocols, bringing back information about current and historical energy use as well as energy pricing and displaying it in a format that is easy for consumers to read and understand. LDK Solar (LDK) Gets 20MW Solar Plant Deal With Uni Land Of Italy

LDK Solar (LDK) has landed a 20MW solar plant deal with Uni Land of Italy.  LDK will develop the plants in 2010 and 2011 and engineer, procure and construct the plants as well as supply the solar modules.  Uni Land will finance the operation.  It’s also being announced that Uni Land has purchased a 1MW plant from LDK for $7.3 million.

PowerSecure (POWR) Gets Multi Year "Green" Landfill Deal

PowerSecure (POWR) has been awarded a multi year contract by Flint Energies to deploy a “green” landfill methane gas power system in Georgia.  POWR will install, own and operate the system which turns methane gas into energy.  The company expects to be finished with the project late next year and begin recognizing revenue in 2011.  The project increases the company’s recurring revenue backlog by 35% to $50 million.

NRG Energy’s (NRG) New Wind Farm Now Producing Power

NRG Energy just announced that the new Langford Wind Farm in San Angelo, Texas has begun to purchase power commercially. The 150 MW windfarm, developed by NRG subsidiary Padoma Power, is expected to produce enough energy each year to power more than 100,000 homes. All power will be sold into the ERCOT system.

First Solar (FSLR) Becomes 1st Solar Company To Hit 1GW Production Benchmark In A Year

First Solar just announced that it has become the first solar PV company to increase its production over to 1 GW of PV modules in a single year. That means that this year, First Solar produced and shipped enough solar modules to provide power to 145,000 homes.

Rentech (RTK) Signs MOU With 13 Airlines

Rentech just announced that is has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with 13 different air carriers. Although the MOU is non-binding, its is expected to serve as the basis of a supply contract for the synthetic jet fuel that Rentech will produce at the Natchez Project, the fuel and power facility that Rentech plans to build in Mississippi.
