A-Power (APWR) To Build Biomass Plant In Thailand

According to this press release, A-Power  will be building a 150 megawatt biomass plant in Thailand. The company has signed an agreement with Thailand’s Biomass Electricity Co., Ltd regarding the plant. Under the $86 million contract, A-Power will design the plant, which will be built in Prachinburi, Thailand. AT&T Orders Van Conversions From Clean Energy Fuels (CLNE)

Clean Energy Fuels just announced that AT&T has placed an order with Clean Energy Fuels’ subsidiary BAF Technologies to have 463 Ford E-250 vans converted to run on compressed natural gas.

MEMC Electronic Materials (WFR) Buys Stake In Eversol

MEMC Electronic Materials just announced that they have acquired an ownership stake in Taiwanese solar wafer manufacturer Eversol. To start with, MEMC Electronic Materials amended a contract with Gintech to allow it to purchase Gintech’s 8.36% interest in Eversol at the price Gintech originally paid for it. Then, MEMC spent 5 million more on an additional 5.1 million shares, meaning that it currently owns a 10.6% stake in the company.

SunPower (SPWRA) Dedicates New Solar Power System At Israeli HP Facility

SunPower just dedicated a new 50-kilowatt rooftop solar power system at HP’s Indigo Division Facility, located in Kiryat-Gat, Israel. The rooftop system was designed and built by Solarpower Ltd, using SunPower panels.

First Solar (FSLR), EDF In Talks With Blanquefort, France Regarding New Solar Manufacturing Plant

First Solar and EDF Energies Nouvelles just announced that they are in the end stages of talks with the French town of Blanquefort regarding the construction of a new solar panel manufacturing facility. The two companies plan to finance the plant together, then First Solar will manage the plant operations and sell the solar panels produced to EDF for 10 years. California Approves Deal Between P G & E (PCG) First Solar (FSLR) And Sempra Energy (SRE)

California regulators have given the go-ahead for a deal that will allow P G & E to buy power from the 48 MW solar power project that First Solar and Sempra Energy are building together near Boulder City, Nevada. National Air And Space Museum Chooses Cree (CREE) LEDs

Cree just announced that its LED fixtures have been chosen to illuminate the National Air and Space Museum’s new “Moving Beyond Earth” exhibit. The museum selected Cree’s LR24 recessed LEDs for the exhibit, which  contains exhibits on human spaceflight and space shuttles. Cree’s LEDs will replace high intensity discharge work lights.

Valence Technology (VLNC) Gets $1.4 Million Smith Electric Vehicles Order

Valence Technology (VLNC) announced this morning that it received a $1.4 million order from Smith Electric Vehicles for its U-Charge lithium battery systems to be shipped in the latter half of next year.  Smith is ramping up production of its Newton electric truck line at the Kansas City plant to meet demand for next year.
