Suntech just announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to work with Pakistan’s Alternative Energy Development Board to bring solar energy to Pakistan. A-Power Energy (APWR) Breaking Out On New $36 Million Wind Energy Project (Donggang)

A-Power Energy (APWR) is breaking out of a base this morning with good volume on news that it has secured a new $36 million contract to supply equipment, construction services and installation for a wind farm in Shangdong Province (called the Donggang Wind Farm) for a subsidiary of Datang International Power.  The project is expected to begin next month and be completed within a year.  Initially, eight 2.5 and 2.7MW wind turbines will be installed … Read the rest

Canadian Solar (CSIQ) Raises 3rd Quarter, Full Year 09 Guidance

After the bell today Canadian Solar (CSIQ) raised guidance for the 3rd quarter and the full year 2009 based on unaudited financial results and a “high level of interest at the Hamburg trade show and subsequent purchase orders”.  The company now expects 3rd quarter revenues of $210 – 215 million and shipments of 101 – 103MW which compares to previous estimates of 90 – 100MW of shipments.  They are also raising their full year guidance … Read the rest

Ocean Power Technologies (OPTT) Expands Lockheed (LMT) Relationship, Shares Soaring 50%

Back in January, we posted about the news of Lockheed (LMT) and Ocean Power (OPTT) signing a letter of intent to develop utility scale wave energy systems together.  That relationship moved to the next step this morning and shares of Ocean Power (OPTT) are soaring on the news, up over 50% just a few minutes ago.  It appears OPTT is no longer a green stock cellar dweller!

Advanced Battery Tech (ABAT) Gets $8.7 Million Lithium Battery Order

Advanced Battery Tech (ABAT) announced this morning it has signed an $8.7 million polymer lithium-ion phosphate battery contract with U Long Run Sheng Technology.  The ABAT batteries will be used by Long Run for electric motorcycles and other electric vehicles.

Production Starts At Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE) Joint Venture’s Phase I Algae Project

Production has started at BioProcessAlgae, LLC’s (a joint venture between Green Plains Renewable Energy, water filtration group CLARCOR Inc, BioProcessH2O LLC and NTR plc) Phase I photobioreactor pilot project. Algae production has started, and the company will begin gathering data over the next 4 months to determine how well the technology being tested will scale commercially.
