Ener1 (HEV) Helps Rescue Think City Electric Car Company From Bankruptcy

Think City just announced that it has received a $5.69 million bridge loan from investors, saving it (at least for now) from bankruptcy. Not surprisingly, the majority of the money is coming from Ener1.

Ener1 has a $70 million battery supply contract with the troubled electric car company. Will the financing help? Reuters quotes a written statement from Think:

AeroVironment, Inc (AVAV) Installs PosiCharge™ Fast Charge Systems For Nestle Corporation

AeroVironment announced yesterday that it has installed over 200 PosiCharge™ Fast Charge Systems for Nestle Corporation. The systems, installed at more than 14 Nestle facilities across America and Canada, are used to quickly and efficiently charge electric vehicles.

Department Of The Interior Requests Postponement Of Decision On AES Corporation’s (AES) Planned Chesapeake Bay LNG Plant

Officials with the Department of the Interior are requesting that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission postpone approval of AES’ proposed LNG plant in Chesapeake Bay. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission was expected to give AES permission to proceed with the plant, but the DOI wants to wait until an additional wildlife study is finished and analyzed.

A-Power (APWR) Signs Wind Turbine Gearbox Deal With GE, Shares Rise

A-Power announced yesterday that it has signed a deal for a joint venture with GE Drivetrain Technologies.Under the terms of the agreement, the companies will work together to create a wind turbine gearbox assembly business. GE Drivetrain will own the majority of the business.

The companies also entered into a supply agreement, under which GE will provide more than 900 2.7 MW gearboxes to A-Power, starting in 2010.

Suntech (STP) Signs Deal With Open Energy

Pacific Ethanol (PEIX) To Suspend Ethanol Production At Madera Plant

Pacific Ethanol announced on Friday that it will be suspending ethanol production at its Madera plant starting tomorrow, January 12th. The plant can produce up to 40 million gallons of ethanol per year, but there is no word on when production will resume.

AES Solar Energy Ltd (AES) Secures Funding For 5 Spanish Solar Projects

AES Solar Energy Ltd announced that it has secured funding for 5 of its planned solar PV projects in Spain. According to the company, which is a joint venture between AES Corporation and Riverstone Holdings LLC, one of its subsidiaries obtained €70 million loan for the projects.

FPL Group, Inc (FPL) Changes Name Of Alt Energy Subsidiary
