Ormat Technologies (ORA) Secures New Zealand GeoThermal Contract

Last week, two subsidiaries of Ormat (ORA) secured a 20 year supply contract for a total of 42 million with Contact Energy, New Zealand’s largest geothermal power plant owner and operator as well as the country’s largest wholesaler and retailer of natural gas and liquid petroleum gas.

UQM Technologies 2.62 Million First Quarter Orders For Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Propulsion Systems

UQM Technologies announced today that it received 2.62 million in orders (double the amount over the same period last year) for its propulsion motors, generators and power electronic controllers to drive both electric and hybrid electric vehicles.

A-Power Energy (APWR) Trading Higher on News of Completed Wind Turbine Construction

According to Street Insider, shares of A-Power (APWR) are trading more than 10% higher today on news that the company has completed construction of the first phase of its 310, 000 sq foot wind turbine production facility in Shenyang, China.  CEO Lu said, "We are excited to announce the on-time completion of the first phase of our wind turbine production facility which we believe is the largest wind turbine production facility in China."… Read the rest

Piper Jaffray Reiterates Buy on ReneSola (SOL)

According to Street Insider, Piper Jaffray reiterated their Buy rating on ReneSola (SOL) and revised the price target from 40 to 35 but raised their Q2 EPS from .33 to .37 and FY08 from 1.37 to 1.50 and FY09 from 2.20 to 2.42

General Electric (GE): 4 Billion Invested in Renewable Energy

General Electric (GE) has added 3 new wind farms in upstate New York to its growing portfolio of renewable energy investments which are comprised mostly of wind projects and now total 4 billion (20% of the total).  That represents a 33% increase in renewable energy investments from just 5 months ago and the company is predicting and the 50% increase by 2010.
