China Intelligent Lighting (CIL) Adds 300 Distribution Outlets For LED Products

China Intelligent Lighting (CIL) has signed contracts with distributors to open another 300 distribution outlets in China in 2011 to sell the Hyundai brand and its own CINLE brand of LED lighting products.  The distributors will initially sign 2 year contracts and CIL will invest about $7.5K in each store ($2.3 million total).  This announcement of 300 additional distribution outlets brings the total to 2500 across 30 provinces in China.

UQM Technologies (UQM) Reports Mixed Results, Still Preparing For Growth

UQM Technologies (UQM) is still a ways off from profitability, but continues to inch closer to the important achievement and may be able to get there next year.  The company announced in January that it now has full production capabilities and the CEO reiterated its aggressive plans for growth and profitability when it reported earnings last night.

MEMC Electronic Materials (WFR) Misses, But Posts Strong Guidance

MEMC Electronic Materials (WFR) reported results tonight that were below analyst estimates, but shares are up a few percent in after hours trading.  The company reported a non GAAP EPS of .25/share on revenues of $850 million which represented big growth over the year ago quarter of 933% and 138% respectively.

JA Solar (JASO) Lands Multi Year 400MW Deal In Europe

JA Solar (JASO)  has landed a big 400MW multi-year solar supply agreement with a leading European solar systems specialist and will provide the panels between now and the end of 2013.  The breakdown is 100MW in 2011, 125MW in 2012 and 175MW in 2013.

First Solar (FSLR) Buys 15MW Solar Plant, Will Flip It To Enbridge

First Solar (FSLR) bought the 15MW Amhersburg II Solar Plant from Helios Energy today, then agreed to sell it to Enbridge Inc for an undisclosed sum.  FSLR will continue developing the uncompleted plant and provide EPC services as well as maintenance under a long term contract.  The solar power will eventually be sold to the Ontario Power Authority under a 20 year power purchase agreement.

American Superconductor (AMSC) Surges On Strong Earnings, Raises EPS Guidance

Shares of American Superconductor (AMSC) surged nearly 10% today after the company reported strong earnings results this morning, beating analyst estimates in the process.  The company reported a non GAAP EPS of .40/share on revenues of $114 million.  That beat the analyst estimates of .33 in EPS and $113 in revenue and represents quarter over quarter growth of 100% and 42% respectively.  The CEO has previously stated that their goal had been to achieve $1 … Read the rest

Auriga Reiterates Buy On Hanwha SolarOne (SOLF)

Auriga was out with a note yesterday, reiterating its Buy rating on Hanwha SolarOne (SOLF) and $16 price target which is nearly a double from current levels.  The firm noted the recent 54MW supply deal with SunEdison which didn’t come as surprise, but the size of the deal did.  Auriga also points out that their sales channel is improving and the relationship with Q-Cells remains intact and unchanged.

Auriga Maintains Buy Rating On Power One (PWER) Ahead Of Earnings

Auriga released a report this morning reiterating its Buy rating on Power One (PWER) with a $14 price target which represents about 30% upside to current levels.  Auriga first initiated a Buy rating on PWER back in December and called the company the “solar inverter leader”.

Canadian Solar (CSIQ) Partners With Unirac On Solar Rooftop Systems In Canada

It was announced today that Canadian Solar (CSIQ) and Unirac will partner in providing solar rooftop systems to residential and commercial customers in Ontario, Canada.  Canadian Solar will provide 30MW in solar modules while Unirac will provide the mounting solution.

Quantum Fuel Systems (QTWW) Secures Order For Nat Gas Vehicle Tanks

Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies (QTWW) has announced it’s  secured a new purchase contract from a leading Utah-based natural gas vehicle integrator to supply a series of large capacity natural gas vehicle tanks for medium and heavy duty trucks.  The Quantum nat gas fuel tanks are lighter than competing tanks allowing for larger storage tanks.  They have supplied over 20K of these tanks to General Motors (GM).  No word on who this contract is for or … Read the rest
