China Integrated Energy (CBEH) Completes 50K Ton Biodiesel Facility

China Integrated Energy (CBEH) announced it has completed a new 50k ton biodiesel production facility adjacent to an existing 100k ton plant in Tongchuan City.  The new plant brings the total biodiesel production capacity to 200K per year.  The new plant will scale production throughout the year, beginning at 25% capacity this quarter to 50% next and to near capacity by the 3rd quarter.  CBEH has expanded its operations significantly in recent months and announced … Read the rest

Clean Energy Fuels (CLNE) Subsidiary BAF Gets Ford Approval For Nat Gas Conversions

Clean Energy Fuels (CLNE) has announced today that its subsidiary, BAF Technologies,  was designated a Qualified Vehicle Modifier for natural gas  fueled vehicles by Ford (F).  BAF provides aftermarket conversions of Ford vans, shuttles, taxis and pick ups.  The designation allows purchasers to retain their warranties because the vehicles have undergone rigorous testing to make sure the modifications meet Ford’s quality guidelines.

Hanwha SolarOne (SOLF) Expands Relationship With SunEdison With 54MW Supply Deal

Hanwha SolarOne (formerly Solarfun) (SOLF) has signed a 54MW solar supply deal with MEMC Electronics (MEMC) to supply its SunEdison subsidiary for this year for use in utility scale power plants.   An optional additional 30MW is available as well.

Philips (PHG): “LED Will Represent 1/2 Of Global Lighting Market Within 5 YRS”

Philips (PHG), which is a big global player in the led lighting segment, believes the LED light source market will expand to over $15 billion and the led lighting device market to over $40 billion by 2015, representing half of the global lighting market.  They see LED lighting accounting for 75% of the global lighting market by 2020.

JA Solar (JASO) Inks 29MW Italian Supply Deal, But Falls On Downgrade

JA Solar (JASO) has signed a 29MW solar module supply contract with a new Italian customer.  It’s a subsidiary of an unnamed  large utility group in Europe and the modules will be supplied this year.  The number of Italian supply deals for the Chinese solar manufacturers has picked up in recent months as Italy is expected to replace some the decrease in demand out of Germany.

JP Morgan (JPM) Remains Bullish On Tesla (TSLA), Investors Underestimating Potential

J.P. Morgan reiterated its Overweight rating on Tesla Motors (TSLA) yesterday giving the shares a bit of a boost.  They have a one year price target of $30 (about 30% upside) and a three year target in the $40 – $50 range.  They believe the majority of the investment community is underestimating the potential of the company with its power-train (used by Daimler and Toyota) and non power-train technologies.

Orion Energy (OESX) Reports Preliminary Results Ahead Of Obama Visit

Orion Energy Systems (OESX) reported preliminary financial results yesterday and the results were quite good.  The company reported record revenues of $29.7 million and a GAAP EPS of .03/share.  While that’s a 54% increase in revenues that EPS number was a bit below the year ago quarter when the company reported .04/share.  The total backlog increased more than 50% over the year ago quarter.

Echelon (ELON) Benefiting From China’s Move To Smart Street Lighting Systems

Echelon (ELON) issued a press release today saying that its networked street lighting systems are experiencing rapid adoption in the China market allowing municipalities to decrease their lighting budget while increasing reliability and efficiency.  It’s estimated that 40% of a city’s energy budget goes to street lighting so it’s increasingly becoming a focus for local governments.

American Superconductor (AMSC) Adds Another Order From India’s Inox Wind

American Superconductor (AMSC) has received a $9 million follow-on order for wind turbine electrical control systems from Inox Wind Limited of India.  AMSC continues to expand its business in India with an initial order from Inox back in August for 17 sets of electrical control systems and another $20 million order from Ghodawat Energy in April.  Inox will use the systems in its 2MW wind turbines and has the ability to manufacture 400 annually.  India … Read the rest
