Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) Buys Oilseed Plant In Czech Republic

Archer Daniels Midland just announced that it has purchased an oilseed plant in the Czech Republic from ViaChem Group. The plant consists of facilities for crushing oilseeds, refining them and producing biodiesel. In addition to energy, the plant produces oil and meal for the food and feed markets.

In a press release, Brent Fenton, ADM Europe’s managing director, commented on the acquisition:

NRG Energy (NRG) To Evaluate Biomass Crops At Louisiana Plant

NRG  has started to evaluate two biomass crops, switchgrass and high-biomass sorghum at its Big Cajun II plant in Louisiana. The tests are part of an effort to reduce the plant’s carbon footprint by burning less coal. The crops being grown are improved varieties of switchgrass and sorghum designed to grow well in Louisiana’s climate, and are provided by Ceres, Inc.

Darling International (DAR) In Renewable Diesel Partnership With Valero Energy (VLO)

Darling International just announced that it is partnering with Valero Energy to form a joint venture that will manufacture renewable diesel fuel. The plant that the two companies plan to build together, which will be located near Norco, Louisiana, will be able to produce 10,0000 barrels a day or 135 million gallons per year.

A-Power Energy (APWR) Misses Badly Again, Stock Down Sharply Premarket

Rentech just announced that its synthetic diesel fuel, RenDiesel, will be used in a special demonstration military vehicle at Selfridge Air Show at Selfridge Air National Guard Base on August 22 and 23rd.
