Advanced Battery Technologies (ABAT), which recently acquired Wuxi Autocycle to break into the electric bike biz is providing some financial guidance for Wuxi with 3 year projections. ..
Wuxi currently has 4 production lines in operation with production capability of 100 vehicles per day per line but is currently operating at lower than 20% of total capacity.
For the period of May through December of 2009, the company believes Wuxi will contribute revenue of $35.0 … Read the rest
The government’s new fuel standards may give a life to BorgWarner and Johnson Controls, according to Chicago’s Daily Herald. The new mileage standards require automakers to raise the average efficiency of the vehicles they sell to 35.5 miles per gallon by 2016.
BorgWarner could benefit from these standards by selling its superchargers to give small, more efficient engines more power, while Johnson Control’s work in the field of lithium batteries could pay off as hybrids … Read the rest
Raser Technologies (RZ) popped nearly 20% today once news was released that it will showcase the 100 mpg Electric Hummer H3 at the US Capitol tomorrow at 2pm EST, allowing members of Congress to test drive the vehicle. Popular Mechanics selected UQM Technologies ‘ 125 electric propulsion system to power their Eco+Muscle hybrid Dodge Challenger R/T car. The project involved modifying a normal Dodge Challenger to include 2 separate powertrains: a combustion engine for highway use and an electric propulsion system for in-town use.
So, how did UQM’s electric motor perform? According to this story on Alternative Energy News, the mechanics that worked on the project were pleasantly surprised:
The 35-foot Proterra electric bus, which is powered by a PowerPhase® 150 electric propulsion system from UQM Technologies, was able to reach over 20 MPGe in fuel economy equivalency testing. The testing, which was conducted by Pennsylvania State University, simulated three different travel situations: central business district, arterial and commuter.
In the tests, Proterra’s electric bus scored as follows:
This Friday at noon, Indiana Senator Evan Bayh will be an honored guest of EnerDel (HEV) at a ceremony marking the commissioning of the country’s first commercial scale production line for lithium-ion battery packs.
