UQM Technologies (UQM) Powered EcoRide Electric Bus Debuts
The EcoRide BE35 battery electric transit bus, developed by Proterra LLC is making its debut in a showcase tour across four California cities (San Jose, LA, The Sac and San Fran) that began on Feb 6th. The bus is powered by a PowerPhase 150 propulsion system from UQM Technologies (UQM) that provides regenerative braking allowing the bus to recapture over 90% of the vehicles kinetic energy available during braking.

Johnson Controls-Saft (JCI) Partners With Ford (Again)
We previously reported that Johnson-Controls Saft would be collaborating with Ford for a demonstration fleet of Ford Escape Hybrids. However, they’ve also signed a 5-year agreement with Ford to produce lithium-ion batteries for Ford’s first first series production plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. Ford expects to have these vehicles in production by 2012. Honda announced on Friday that it is in the process of developing an electric motorcycle.
