A-Power (APWR) To Build Biomass Plant In Thailand

According to this press release, A-Power  will be building a 150 megawatt biomass plant in Thailand. The company has signed an agreement with Thailand’s Biomass Electricity Co., Ltd regarding the plant. Under the $86 million contract, A-Power will design the plant, which will be built in Prachinburi, Thailand. PowerSecure (POWR) Gets Multi Year "Green" Landfill Deal

PowerSecure (POWR) has been awarded a multi year contract by Flint Energies to deploy a “green” landfill methane gas power system in Georgia.  POWR will install, own and operate the system which turns methane gas into energy.  The company expects to be finished with the project late next year and begin recognizing revenue in 2011.  The project increases the company’s recurring revenue backlog by 35% to $50 million.

Rentech (RTK) Signs MOU With 13 Airlines

Rentech just announced that is has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with 13 different air carriers. Although the MOU is non-binding, its is expected to serve as the basis of a supply contract for the synthetic jet fuel that Rentech will produce at the Natchez Project, the fuel and power facility that Rentech plans to build in Mississippi.

Covanta (CVA) Begins Construction Of Dublin Energy-From-Waste Facility, May Be Considering Purchasing Shanks

Covanta just announced that it has started production on a energy-from-waste facility located in Dublin, Ireland. The facility, which is being built as a Public Private Partnership between Dublin City Council and Dublin Waste to Energy Limited (owned by Covanta), will have the capacity to process 600,000 tons of waste per year, creating enough energy to power 60,000 homes.

Rino Intl (RINO) Reports Blow Out Quarter, Shares Surge Again

RINO International (RINO) reported outstanding results again this morning, smashing analyst estimates.  The company reported a non GAAP EPS of .78/share which nearly doubled the analyst estimate of .47 (again, remind me what these analysts are being paid for?)  That’s just about a doubling of profits over the year ago quarter.  The company smashed analyst estimates on the revenue side as well posting $63 million vs the estimate of $44 million.
