Raser Technologies (RZ) technologies has announced this morning that Ormat (ORA) will provide engineering, procurement and construction services for its Lightning Dock geothermal project in New Mexico. Ormat will also provide the equipment which includes two larget Ormat binary generators and all above ground equipment.

Ormat has just announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Ormat Nevada Inc, has acquired HSS II LLC. Financial details were not disclosed, but the purchase includes the Hot Sulphur Springs Geothermal Project in NE Nevada. The project is almost fully developed and has a successful well. Nevada Power Company has signed a 20 year power purchase agreement to buy the power that the Hot Sulphur Springs Geothermal Project produces once it is complete.

Ormat Technologies (ORA) posted another strong quarter as earnings increased 48% over the year ago quarter on revenues that increased 20%. The company reported an EPS of .52/share which smashed analyst estimates of .37/share. Revenues also beat analyst estimates coming in at $119.8 million vs Wall St estimates of $99.4 million.

Ormat just announced that its Israeli subsidiary has started a new joint venture with Israeli energy company Sunday Energy. Under the agreement, the two companies will work together to develop, construct and operate 36MW of Israeli solar PV systems.

Ormat (ORA), the geothermal gorilla, continues to post very strong quarters despite a tough economy. The company beat both EPS and revenues estimates with about 20% quarter over quarter growth on both.
