Canadian Solar’s (CSIQ) NewEdge Roof-Mounting Solar Panels Now For Sale In The US

Canadian Solar just announced that they have released their NewEdge solar panels in the US market. The panels are compatible with the new Zep roof-mounting System, and used together the products have the potential to reduce installation costs by half and reduce the amount of time spent to install the panels on a roof by 75%.

SunPower (SPWRA) To Build 7 Solar Plants In Italy, 16.5 MW Total

SunPower just announced that it has signed an agreement with Sol.In.Build Srl, a subsidiary of Veronagest SpA, to build 7 solar plants in Sicily. No financial details were disclosed, but the 7 plants will provide 16.5 MW of capacity total. Individual plants will vary in size from one to 3.5 MW. All plants are expected to be up and running by September of this year.

ABB Ltd (ABB) Scores Spanish Solar Order Worth $30 Million

ABB just announced that they have received a $30 million order from GA Solar for a 13 megawatt PV power plant in northern Spain. Under the terms of the agreement, ABB will handle the plant’s design, engineering, construction, civil works and commissioning.

Akeena Solar (AKNS) To Handle Installation For Lowe’s

Akeena Solar just announced that it will begin offering solar installations services for Lowe’s customers. The company will offer these services via 21 Lowe’s stores in California. Akeena’s Andalay AC solar panels are already available in these Lowe’s stores through Lowe’s Energy Centers.

Suntech (STP) Solar Panels Chosen For 4.7 MW Solar Plant in Taiwan

Suntech just announced that its solar panels have been selected to power what will be the biggest solar power plant in Taiwan. The new plant , which will be owned and operated by Taiwan Power Company, will be installed in Young’an,
Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Liao Wen Sing, Vice President of Fortune Electric Co, which is developing the project, says that Suntech panels were selected on the basis of superior performance and reliability.

Barrons Savitz On Solar: Supply Glut To Continue, More Firms To Fail (ESLR, ENER)
