Power One (PWER) Misses, Guides Below, Shares Down

Not a good earnings report out of Power-One (PWER) last night.  The company missed on both the top and bottom line posting a non GAAP EPS of .16/share (vs the estimate for .19/share) on revenues of $245 million (vs the estimate for $248 million).  That’s a significant drop over the year ago numbers when the company reported .40 and $314 million respectively.  It doesn’t get better next quarter.  The company is guiding below the … Read the rest

UQM Technologies (UQM) Starts Volume Production Of Electric Propulsion Systems

Some great news out of UQM Technologies (UQM) this morning, which announced it has begun high volume production of its PowerPhase electric propulsion system with a total capacity of 40K units across two shifts.  The stock soared back in January aftr it announced it had added the capability for full production.  The stock is not moving much (yet) on news it will actual product at full capacity.

LSI Industries (LYTS) Misses As It Finds Making Up For 7-Eleven LED Business Difficult

LSI Industries (LYTS) reported earnings results this morning that were significantly less than stellar as the company tries to replace the significant 7-Eleven LED business that propelled revenues last year.  The company reported an EPS of .05/share vs the analyst estimate for .10/share on revenues of $65.5 million vs the analyst estimate for $70 million.  That represents quarter over quarter decreases of 50% and 18% respectively.

Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE) Beats, Shares Surge

There are few bright spots in the world of green energy these days and while Green Plains Renewable Energy (GPRE) can’t be called a green energy pure play and I’m not a big fan of ethanol, they are profitable and seeing significant growth.  So there ya go.. we’ll take the positives in the green energy space when we can get it.

The Bottom Is Near For Itron (ITRI), Shares Spike After Earnings

First Solar (FSLR) Surprise Earnings Report: Misses Estimates, Poor Guidance But It’s Been Expected

First Solar (FSLR) is full of surprises these days.  Yesterday, the CEO abruptly left and this morning the company decided to ease fears a bit with a surprise earnings report ahead of schedule.  The company was expected to report next week and will keep the conference call at the original date of Nov 3rd.

Fuel Systems Solutions (FSYS) Named Supplier For General Motors (GM) CNG Pickup Truck

Today Fuel Systems Solutions (FSYS) was selected by General Motors (GM) as a Tier-One supplier for a new compressed natural gas (CNG) bi-fuel commercial pickup truck. The company is already integrating its bi-fuel systems into the Chevy Express and GMC Savana cargo vans at its facility in Indiana and will add this new CNG pickup from GM into the mix.  The vehicle is expected to launch in about a year.

First Solar (FSLR) Bloodbath Continues As CEO Steps Down

The bloodbath in shares of US solar leader First Solar (FSLR) continued today as news that CEO Rob Gillette is out hit the Street and shares fell off a cliff mid day, ultimately ending down 25%.  It’s the lowest point for the stock since early 2007.  Ouch.

Yingli Green Energy (YGE) Seeing Solar Surge In Germany & Italy

Yesterday, the solar industry got a jolt of good news when Yingli Green Energy (YGE) reported in an article over at Bloomberg that it’s seeing a surge in sales in Germany and an acceleration in Italy.  Solar pricing has dropped so low (40% drop in panel prices) that developers are seeing the opportunity for significant returns on investment and jumping back in.

Cree Inc (CREE) Reports Inline, But Guidance Fairly Weak

Cree Inc (CREE), the LED lighting leader, posted its earnings results after the bell today and it was a so so report.  The company reported results right about inline with what analysts expected with a non GAAP EPS of .25/share which is a 58% decrease over the year ago quarter on revenues of $269 million, also inline.  However guidance is mixed and the company sees EPS this quarter of .25 – .28/share vs the consensus … Read the rest
