Ascent Solar is developing a new BIPV product line for use on standing seam metal roofs. Ascent is working with Energy Peak to test and perfect the product; both companies expect production to begin in the first half of this year and that Energy Peak will be able to buy modules and use them in roofing projects by the second half.

Energy Focus Incorporated just announced that it has acquired Stones River Companies, LLC, a lighting energy services provider located in Nashville, Tennessee. The acquisition was completed on New Year’s Eve of 2009 and was valued at approximately $5 million. Stones River Companies will become a business unit of Energy Focus Incorporated, and Stones River Companies leader Rob Wilson will continue to manage the SRC unit.
American Superconductor has signed a follow on order with Dongfang Turbine this morning and the companies will jointly design and develop 5MW wind turbines for the offshore wind power market. A-Power Energy (APWR) has announced it signed an exclusive 2MW wind turbine deal with W2E Technologies and will license W2E technology to manufacture, operate, service and sell the turbines within the US and China. APWR will have non exclusive rights to market the turbines outside of China & the US. Financials of the deal haven’t been disclosed. Traders like the news premarket and the stock is up about 4%.

AES Wind Generation just announced that its 101 MW Armenia Mountain wind farm in Pennsylvania is up and running. AES will sell the 100% of the power produced by the plant to nearby utilities Delmarva Power and Light and Old Dominion Electric Cooperative under 15 year power purchase agreements, with each utility taking 50% of the output.
