BporgWarner turbochargers are being used to improve performance in new compressed natural gas (CNG) engines from Opel and Volkswagon. BorgWarner’s technology is currently being used in the Opel 1.6-liter compressed natural gas (CNG) engine and the VW 1.4-liter TSI EcoFuel engine.
With the help of BorgWarner’s turbochargers, both engines were able to achieve 150 horsepower, so they have the pickup that previous CNG engines lacked while still providing great fuel economy and low CO2 emissions. … Read the rest
Canadian Solar just announced its intention to build a new solar panel manufacturing plant in Ontario, Canada. The company is currently making plans and determining the plant’s exact location, size and cost. The plans are expected to be finalized next year. Tentatively, the company plans to build a 200MW plant with an estimated cost of approximately C$24 million. A-Power Energy (APWR) is surging off the lows following its earnings report this morning and there is more good news to report for APWR shareholders. The company has announced that it has signed a $16 million contract with Tieling Cement to act as the general contractor for a waste to heat power generation facility in Tieling City. The project will begin this month and is expected to be completed within the next 6 months.
Appliance Recycling Centers of America just announced that it has a new contract with Great River Energy to recycle refrigerators and freezers for Great River Energy’s member co-ops in Minnesota. The contract runs from April 1, 2010 and run through September 30, 2010 and will support an incentive program to encourage Great River Energy’s customers to trade in old, inefficient freezers and fridges for newer, more efficient models. Solutia just announced that its Therminol® D12 and Therminol 66 synthetic heat transfer fluids will be used in LDK’s new 15,000 metric ton polysilicon plant in Xinyu City, China. Solutia’s heat transfer fluids have been used in several solar power-related projects this year, both in the manufacturing of polysilicon and to absorb and transfer energy from sunlight in concentrating solar power plants.
