It’s not a done deal at this point, just a memorandum of understanding which can be broken, but Suntech (STP) and Pure Energies of Canada have agreed on a supply deal which will have STP supplying up to 17MW in solar panels next year. The MOU also provides a possible supply deal for 2011 as well.
Pure Energies servers Ontario’s rapidly growing residential solar market which has been supported by the local government.

Quantum Fuel Tech (QTWW) has supplied Shell with hydrogen fueling technology and infrastructure equipment to support its station in New York near the entrance to JFK Airport. The hydrogen fueling station which is open to the public is part of a group of hydrogen fueling stations opened by Shell around New York in partnership with the Port Authority of NY, New Jersey, US Dept of Energy and General Electric.

It’s being announced this morning that EnerDel (HEV) has participated in a Tokyo smart grid project scheduled to come online in a few months. The project involves several companies from around the world including EnerDel, Mazda and Itochu Corp (EnerDel’s sales/marketing partner in Japan and long time investor) and aims to construct a complete smart grid marrying the components of electric vehicles and solar power.

Yesterday it was announced that Ener1 (HEV) will use a portion of the stimulus funds it received to purchase eight electric car power cycling and test systems from Aerovironment (AVAV) to expand the company’s test capabilities at its Indiana facility. The systems are designed to simulate real world driving by repeatedly charging and discharging the lithium batteries. No word on the financials of the deal.
Capstone Turbine (CPST) is about to reveal its prototype CMT-380 hybrid-electric supercar at the LA Auto Show Dec 2 – 13. Struggling ethanol producer Pacific Ethanol just announced that it plans to start making ethanol again. According to this press release, the company plans to bring its Magic Valley plant in Idaho back online for the new year. The plant, capable of producing 60 million gallons of ethanol annually, should be back up and running in January 2010, as long as the bankruptcy court approves.
