First Solar (FSLR) Smashes Estimates, Doubles Revenues Again

Akeena Solar (AKNS) Shows Little EPS Improvement, But Revenues Weak

Xergi A/S To Invest in Environmental Power Corporation (EPG), Signs New Cooperation Agreement

Environmental Power Corporation (EPG) announced yesterday that it has received new investment from technology provider Xergi A/S, as well as a new cooperation agreement between the two companies.

Xergia has agreed to purchase $3 million worth of EPG’s 14% convertible notes. Next month, Xergi’s $3 million payment obligation for the notes will cancel out Environmental Power Corporation’s $3 million payment for technology rights.

First Solar (FSLR) To Supply PV Modules For Australia’s Largest Installation

First Solar (FSLR) announced late last night that they will supply PV solar modules to Solar Shop Australia for a 1MW rooftop project that will be installed on 6 separate buildings at the Adelaide Showground in South Australia.  The project, which is being commissioned by the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia, will represent the largest PV installation in the country.

FPL Group (FPL) Reports Strong Quarter, Raises Outlook

FPL Group (FPL) reported earnings this morning and it was a strong quarter in a tough environment.  The leading provider of wind and solar energy reported a non GAAP EPS number of .90/share beating estimates by .13/share. 

It’s NextEra Energy Resources division which houses its wind and solar operations produced  good results with an EPS of .62/share (a 13% increase over the year ago quarter) however the gains were driven by new investments in wind … Read the rest

Conergy To Sue MEMC Electronic Materials (WFR) Over Contract

It’s official: Conergy is suing MEMC Electronic Materials to try to end a 10 year supply contract with the company. The contract was signed before the economy crashed and took silicon wafer prices down with it. Talks between the two companies to amend the contract broke down last week.

Canadian Solar (CSIQ) Gets Government Funding For Local Solar Projects

Safety of Evergreen Solar Plant (ESLR) Questioned

Officials from the town of Ayer are expressing concern over Evergreen Solar’s safety procedures at its plant in Deven, Mass. after three spills of toxic material were reported from the plant. The plant has been in operation since July. In October, the first spill occurred: 500 gallons of a toxic "cocktail" that included hydrofluoric, nitric and sulfuric acids.
