Fuel Systems Solutions (FSYS) Acquires CNG Assets of FuelMaker Including Phill

Fuel Systems Solutions (FSYS) has announced that it is acquiring assets and technology for compressed natural gas (CNG) products from FuelMaker for $7 million, which includes a home refueling appliance marketed under the Phill brand. The deal is expected to close sometime this quarter.

Capstone Turbine (CPST) Receives Order For Hybrid UPS

Capstone Turbine just announced that it has received an order worth more than 1 million dollars for its C65 Hybrid Uninterruptible Power Source (UPS) units. These units, which combine microturbines with a dual-conversion UPS, are a green way to provide power to data centers.

Badger Meter (BMI) To Move Unskilled Work In Mexico

Badger Meter plans to move some of its unskilled positions from its plant in Brown Deer, WI to a new plant in Nogales, Mexico. The move will allow Badger Meter to reduce its labor costs. The company says some of its meters will still be produced in Wisconsin, and it wouldn’t comment on how exactly how many jobs will shifted from Wisconsin to Nogales.

Evergreen Solar (ESLR) Continues Racking Up Losses, Down 10% AH

EnerNoc (ENOC) Deploys PowerTalk Smart Grid Instant Messaging Technology

EnerNoc has successfully deployed its PowerTalk technology in 250 of its approximately 5000 customer sites which allows for real time communication through open standards technology between almost any internet enabled smart meter or device and the EnerNoc command center.  Similar to instant messaging, the presence technology continuously transmits the status of the device as well as other info so that changing conditions are detected in real time.

Itron (ITRI) Dismal Quarter, Down 9%

Companies involved in the smart grid should do very well in the future, but for now the behemoth in this space, Itron (ITRI) will have to wait to benefit.  The company just reported an awful quarter reporting an EPS of .33/share missing estimates by .07/share on revenues of $389 million.  That’s a 20% haircut on revenues over last year and a 60% plunge in earnings.

Clean Harbors (CLH) To Acquire Eveready

Clean Harbors just announced a deal to acquire the Canadian company Eveready, Inc. The total cost of the acquisition will be $464 million, of which $202 million will be used to buy Eveready stock and $262 million will be used to acquire Eveready’s debt. The deal is expected to be concluded in the third quarter.

Valence Technology (VLNC) Supplying Batteries To Power Motorcycle At Carbon-Free Grand Prix

Valence Technology is supplying 10 U-Charge® XP energy storage solutions to power one of motorcycles in the world’s first "green" Grand Prix, which will be held on the Isle of Man. The batteries will power the bike entered by the Imperial College London.
