Real Goods Solar (RSOL) Reports Mixed Results, But Remains Top Residential Solar Installer

Real Goods Solar (RSOL) reported another solid quarter and continues to separate itself as the top publicly traded residential solar installer.  Akeena Solar (WEST) hasn’t put up much of a fight.  Real Goods beat the analyst estimate on the EPS side, but missed revenue estimates posting an EPS of .02/share on revenues of $17.5 million vs  the estimate of zero profit on revenue of $18.45 million.  Despite the miss on revenues, the company still managed … Read the rest

GT Solar (SOLR) Destroys Analyst Estimates, Guides Higher, Shares Surging

GT Solar (SOLR) has turned in an outstanding quarter, smashing analyst estimates in the process.  The company reported an EPS of .11/share on revenues of $135 million.  That was more than double the analyst estimates for both the EPS and revenue number.  While the sequential growth isn’t there, quarter over quarter EPS growth comes in at 120% while revenue growth comes in at 88%.

Sunpower (SPWRA) Completes Australia’s Largest Solar Tracking System

SunPower (SPWRA) has announced it has put the finishing touches on what is the first solar tracking system in Australia.  The 505kW installation for government owned Horizon Power provides power to remote and regional area in Western Australia.  The solar system uses SunPower ground mounted solar tracking technology increasing efficiency by following the movement of the sun.  The hybrid solar-diesel power stations will produce up to 90% of the daily electricity needs.

Clean Harbors (CLH) Smashes Estimates With Gulf Oil Spill Profits

Clean Harbors (CLH) was going to have a great quarter.  After all, they were one of the big beneficiaries of the gulf oil spill with its experience in cleaning up environmental contaminants… and a big quarter it was.  The company smashed estimates posting a record EPS of $2.20 which was way ahead of the analyst estimate of .87.  To put that in perspective, it’s nearly equal to their best year in 2008 when they produced … Read the rest

Ocean Power Tech (OPTT) Moves Closer To Commercial Scale Wave Energy In Oregon

Ocean Power Technologies (OPTT) moved another step closer to realizing its goal of completing the first commercial scale wave power station in the US.  The company has signed a Settlement Agreement with 11 federal and state agencies for its Reedsport, Oregon wave energy project which covers everything from aquatic resources, water quality, recreation, public safety, crabbing and fishing and cultural resources.

Echelon (ELON) Beats Estimates, Narrows Loss But Guidance Mixed

Echelon (ELON) has a long way to go to get to profitability, but it reported a decent quarter beating analyst estimates by a wide margin on the EPS side.  It reported a loss of .09/share which was .15 better than analyst expectations on revenues that were a bit better than analyst expectations at $27 million (analysts expected $25.5 million).  Those numbers are improvements both sequentially and quarter over quarter and that’s exactly what you want … Read the rest

STR Holdings (STRI) Announces $19 Million Expansion/Relocation Plan
