Energy Focus (EFOI) reported after the bell today and posted a narrower loss of .17/share (3 cents better than expectations). Revenues surged over the year ago quarter to $8.5 million but $5.3 million of that was due to their acquisition of Stones River Companies, so take out the SRC results and you really have a company that really isn’t making any progress.
Stones River Companies, which Energy Focus (EFOI) recently acquired has received five new lighting contracts totaling $2.5 million. Two contracts are for the upgrade of two universities, involving the retrofit and replacement with energy efficient lighting with the other three contracts for upgrading the lighting at an elementary school, a hospital and several army facilities. The work is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The purchase of Stones River Companies by Energy Focus (EFOI) is already paying big dividends. The company announced that its new subsidiary has been awarded $12.3 million in new contracts across seven projects for efficient lighting retrofits which will reduce energy use and improve light quality. The project are already underway and expected to be completed this year.

Energy Focus Incorporated just announced that it has acquired Stones River Companies, LLC, a lighting energy services provider located in Nashville, Tennessee. The acquisition was completed on New Year’s Eve of 2009 and was valued at approximately $5 million. Stones River Companies will become a business unit of Energy Focus Incorporated, and Stones River Companies leader Rob Wilson will continue to manage the SRC unit.
Energy Focus, Inc, just announced that it has received an order worth $256,000 from the Army and the Airforce. Energy Focus will provide their LED lightning fixtures to the Minnesota Air National Guard. The company expects to to fulfil the order this month. … Read the rest
Energy Focus, Inc just announced that they have signed a letter of intent to purchase Stones River Companies. The purchase of the Nashville, Tennessee-based company will give them access to the $100 billion market in the public sector for energy-efficient lighting. The deal is expected to be complete within the next 90 days.

Energy Focus, Inc just announced that it has been given a SBIR extension grant by DARPA to develop and produce LED lights for the US Navy. The LEDs will be designed to replace 50 and 110 Watt water tight incandescent fixtures now being used on Navy ships.
