Valence Technology (VLNC) announced this morning that it received a $1.4 million order from Smith Electric Vehicles for its U-Charge lithium battery systems to be shipped in the latter half of next year. Smith is ramping up production of its Newton electric truck line at the Kansas City plant to meet demand for next year.

Valence Technology, Inc announced today that the Opposition Board of the European Patent Office has revoked the University of Texas’ European patent for lithium metal phosphates on the basis of lack of novelty. This decision is good news for Valence because it allows the company to further develop and market its own proprietary lithium iron magnesium phosphate cathode material for electric car batteries.
