Xcel Energy has chosen NextEra Energy Resources to build its planned Northern Colorado Wind Facility. If the 152 MW project is approved by Colorado regulators, it’s scheduled to be producing power by the end of this year.
The 25-year contract between Xcel and NextEra calls for Xcel paying $50 per megawatt hour of energy produced during the farm’s first year of operation —
Xcel Energy has requested permission from the Colorado Public Utilities Commission to raise $6 million per year for clean energy research. The funds would be raised by adding a nominal fee to customers’ bills. Most residential customers would pay an extra .14 per month, and most small businesses would see a .22 increase.
