Cree (CREE) Signs Supply Contract With LG

Cree just announced a new supply contract with LG Display. Under the partnership agreement, Cree will supply LG with LED chips for flat-screen LCD devices. LG plans to expand the percentage of panels it produces that use LED-backlighting to approximately 50% of its total notebook LCD output.

Hoku Scientific (HOKU) Reports Horrendous Quarter

Hoku Scientific (HOKU) is out with results after the bell today and they aren’t pretty.  The company reported a non GAAP EPS loss of .03/share, a wider loss than the year ago quarter in which the company lost .01/share.  Revenues were equally as awful, coming in at $767K.. good for a nearly 50% drop from the year ago period.  Their outlook for next year doesn’t get any better with a projection of only $5 million … Read the rest

EnerNOC (ENOC) Gets 8 Year Demand Response Contract With Xcel Energy (XEL)

Analysts Slash Estimates On Sunpower (SPWRA, SPWRB) Ahead of Earnings

Sunpower (SPWRA, SPWRB) will report earnings on Thursday after the bell and analysts are rushing in to slash estimates ahead of the earning announcement.  According to Barron’s, Friedman Billings Ramsay, Thomas Weisel Partners and Pacific Crest all issued warnings this morning.

FPL Group (FPL) Tops Estimates With Strong Quarter, Fueled By NextEra Energy

FPL Group (FPL), called the Wal Mart of Wind by Barron’s and the largest producer of wind and solar energy in the US, reported earnings this morning that topped analyst estimates at .90/share and represents 25% growth over the year ago quarter on revenue growth of 9%.  All in all, a very good quarter in a tough environment. ReneSola (SOL) Gets $117 Million Loan From China Construction Bank

ReneSola (SOL) announced it’s signed a 5 year loan agreement with China Construction Bank to fund the construction of ReneSola’s polysilicon production facility in Meishan, Sichuan.

“We are pleased to announce that we’ve secured additional financing for our Sichuan polysilicon manufacturing facility,” said Charles Bai, ReneSola’s chief financial officer. “The agreement, combined with previously acquired financing, provides ReneSola with approximately 90% of the capital necessary to fund the project to completion. Comverge (COMV) Announces 5-Year Deal With Progress Energy

Comverge just announced a 5 year contract to provide demand response hardware and software to Progress Energy. Progress Energy will use Comverge’s products in its EnergyWise energy efficiency program. This is projected to save 170 MW of energy for Progress Energy during its peak energy use periods. Comverge will install in-home energy displays, smart thermostats and digital controls to homes in the program to help reduce energy consumption.

Air Products (APD) Announces Supply Contract With Gadir Solar

Air Products just announced a new turnkey gas supply contract with Gadir Solar. Under the agreement, Air Products will supply Gadir with liquid specialty gases used in manufacturing thin-film solar products for its new facility in Puerto Real, Cadiz, Spain. Air Products will also provide Gadir with equipment for handling the gases and related support.

Industrial Defender To Partner With Itron (ITRI)

Industrial Defender and Itron are working together to offer Security Event Management for Itron’s OpenWay smart meter system. Industrial Defender’s security technology will be used to manage the data from Itron’s meters, allowing Itron to provide enhanced security to electricity providers using their system.

Ocean Power Technologies (OPTT) & Lockheed Martin Announce Wave Energy Collaboration

A letter of intent has been signed this morning between Lockheed Martin (LMT) and wave energy startup Ocean Power Technologies (OPTT) to collaborate in the development of utility scale wave energy in North America.  OPTT would provide site development and its PowerBuoy technology while Lockheed Martin would provide construction, systems integration, operation and maintenance services.  The two companies have worked together before on maritime surveillance for the Dept of Homeland Security but this marks  the … Read the rest
